When I was browsing for XP tweaks I found an article that mentioned that the onboard processor of the NIC is usually disabled by XP. The processor can be enabled by some simple registry editing. What's the benefit? Is it worth it? Will it cause any other problems or limitations?

There's hardware on the motherboard which handles the NIC.
