Looking for a list of fruit species and genus names.

Post by []V[]essenjah »

Just wondering, does anyone know where I could find a list of fruit species and genus names?

This is for a book I am writing. As I understand, the name of a plant consits of two latin words combined. These words are made from the species and genus names.

Hint: often the genus is a "latinisation" of the discoverer's name. For example, if I found a new butterfly, I'd name it "Lepidoptera Mobiusii"

Actually, I was hoping for some specific website names.

I can dig up a lot on the history of taxonemy but that is not what I wish to know.

I just need a straight forward list of plant family and genus names. I also need a simple discription of what the family and genus name stands for and means. :) What the traits of the various genus and family names. :)

Have you searched thru The Tree of Life?

I'm not sure if you can find what you are looking for there, but you will find more information than you could ever possibly need.
