Dream Machines...

Post by Capm »

I was just parts surfing today, and I came across one of Tyan's new motherboards. Its exactly everything I could want in a motherboard, so I priced a dream system around this board, and this is what I came up with:

Tyan K8WE
Dual Opteron 250's
4GB Corsair DDR400 ECC Registered
Dual Geforce 6800 Ultra 256MB PCI-x
Audigy 2 w/Drive
DVD Burner drive
Zip 750 drive
Atec 11-in-1 Flash drive
(Boot)Seagate 18GB 15kRPM SCSIx2(Mirrored)
(Storage)Maxtor 200GB 7200rpm SATAx2(Mirrored)
I-Star Redundant 500watt Powersupply
Case
OS
---------
~$7000 built - this don't even include keboard mouse or monitor.

So whats your dream system?

Yea, no real speed gain, but thats 2 gigs per processor, I figured that'd be enough. Besides, its not like I can actually afford to build the thing.

What do you mean zip sucks? I've used lots of zip drives, they rock. Good storage, good speed, tough as nails cartriges, and its like Visa, its everywhere you want to be. Where is a stfu mobius picture when you need one?
