is there any program (preferably free) that lets you take screenshots of any clip or film you're watching on like WMP or quicktime?

Media Player Classic

Plays damn near everything. The functionality you want is located under the file menu.

vote #2 for Powerdvd. As for MWP and QT, I'd convert to a decent format first- both are annoying, especially QT.
