8 out of 10. Two of the real ones, I thought were CG. Most were pretty CG-friendly objects, there... that made it hard to tell.

8 out of 10. I picked out all the fakes, but I also thought that the golf ball looked fake, and the blingage off the patio furniture made me thing it was also fake.

A lot of times you can tell by what isn't there... I messed some with cg- the trick to it is showing what you want, without people realizing that there isn't a world surrounding it.

I have a degree that says I need to know these things. :P The only one that fooled me was the blades of grass. If you get 10 out of 10 they give you a bonus round of 4 more pictures.

4 out of 4 on that one. Some of those are pretty tricky though. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut instincts. Course, a little training doesn't hurt matters either :P

Oh, cool! 4/4 on the bonus round here, too.

Those are tough, but the only one that was a huge surprise was the golf ball. There was one other one (the glasses) that I thought could easily be either, so I guessed and guessed wrong.

10/10 + 3/4. Background on the chairs looked wrong, but I didn't look at the chairs themselves in enough detail.

The fakes are usually very obviously "wrong", or else have too much of a "pattern" to be real. Some of the CGs were well-done (my personal "best CG" award goes to the scattered nails), and some of the "real" shots could easily be rendered, though, so sometimes you do just have to go with your instincts on it. We're usually pretty good about knowing if there's something out of place, even if we don't know what. :)

Jeez, the shotglass in the bonus round should have been easy... A|w means Alias|wavefront. Of course I didn't pick up on it until after I got it wrong...

Very good! Eight out of ten answers were correct. (The golf ball and the glasses got me)

The Bonus Challenge Results
You got 3 out of 4 answers correct.
(The dice didn't look right for some reason, tho' I should have guessed real because the writing showing through the die was of the correct natural angle)

That CG one with the nails scattered all over, it just doesn't seem fair to lather the picture in a blue filter, and the golfball photo is hyperreal.

PS, when you click on them for the larger image, it becomes readily apparant.

8 outta 10

Missed the nails and the table. the shading on the golfball was too smooth and "imperfect" for CG. The table I shoulda got but I second guessed myself.

Great find Krom!

Yup, the nails are really tricky.

I got 6 out of 10, then 7 out of 10.

The pictures were tiny on my moniter though.

The face was the first thing I clicked on. All too easy.

The blades of grass were too bright somehow to be real.

The wine glass I said was CG because a wine glass would be fairly easy to make. It is a near perfect shape. However, I had doubts because of the wine inside. I did notice the reflections were all correct and the shadows were perfect. I find that CG objects in motion are usually easier to spot tahn in a still picture.

The golf ball I knew was real because the blur on the side I could easily tell was real, the color in the blades were also correct and held no perfect pattern. You can also see deformations on the ends of the various blades.

The nails I saw at a distance. I never suspected them as real though, surprisingly. They looked nearly perfect in shape at a distance. I should have clicked on the pictures to take a closer look. I would have noticed the iregularities in the various nails and taken note that each one was different.

The chess board I noticed the reflections were much too real. Although reflective surfaces are the most convincing in my opinion within the CG world. I marked it as real anyway. I also noted the irregularities in the shapes.

The table I couldn't really couldn't figure out what it was I was looking at until I clicked and saw it in a larger view. When you click on it, the spots of water are easy to spot and you can tell that those are clearly not CG art.

On the spoon and fork, the relfections were waaay overdone. Spotted that right off.

The other easy one I saw were the glasses, why? I knew that a set of interesting glasses would be something I would like to try to CG in order to really play with some cool effects. They also looked very perfect.

By far, people are the easiest CG art to spot. It sticks out like a soar thumb. That is why, even I prefer objects or creatures over human characters.

Sad part about my score... I work in 3D art. Although I do mostly low-poly stuff. Guess I need to try some higher poly stuff.

8 of 10.

I got fooled by the golf ball (the grass didn't look real to me) and the nails laying everywhere. What was the giveaway in the nails photo?

On the grass one the blade of grass in the foreground had a slightly off CG looking texture to me. The blue glasses it looked like it would be too hard to get them that clean...

To give myself a little credit, I didn't look at any of the larger images, and I did the whole thing in a matter of seconds. I also second Dedman's excuse. :P

For me, it was the fact that they all looked exactly the same. Check out the heads, they've got exactly the same wear pattern. Hard to have, I'd think. :)
