Flu
It's got me. I'm 23 and have never gotten it before, but I've got it, and I hate it.
I'd like to know what everyone knows about it. From what I've gathered, it lasts 1-2 weeks, and I can't get the flu shot once I've already caught it.
So what has worked for you past flu victims? Any particular medicine your recommend? Is there any truth to that starve a flu. What sort of diet should I have. Do most people call in sick for the tenure of their flu?
I'm wondering if I should call my proff about my monday test, I woudlnt' think they'd want me going to school with this. Thanks

Damn first time with the flu your in for a long ride. I know Echinacea tea is a good way to fight off a virus. Basically it gives your Immune system a little bit of a kick. You all so want to keep up on Gatorade as well you donâ??t want to get dehydrated with a flu. Another thing try to keep off any thing that has caffeine in it.
Just be lucky you donâ??t have a fever with the flu.

Most flu's have a period from 1-4 days of severe illness, followed by 1-4 weeks of recovery. The recovery part is the most annoying, because while you have a good excuse to stay home from school or work during the height of your sickness, you usually are expected to perform after getting thru the worst of it and just suffer as you go.
Starving yourself is not advised, it isn't true. The saying goes: Starve a cold and feed a fever. But you have neither, you have the flu. You need your strength. Depending on the type of flue you have, stomache virus, respiratory inflammation, intestinal dysentery, etc, you should consult your doctor on the best dietary care for rapid recovery. Don't take advice from here. Except this of course.
You have been to the doctor haven't you?

I had a nice case of it a few years ago that lasted about 3 days or so. I didn't move more than 10 feet from the sofa during all that time. My advice: eat what you think you can keep down (if you're nauseous, I was lucky enough not to be), take it very easy, and, if you're up to it, catch up on some movies/games. It's something you definitely want to ride out before you try to do anything; it's likely that you're not feeling up to moving anyway.

I jut got some Zicam which came highly recommended, and I feel pretty danged good now.
Yup, that's what I use all the time. Good stuff. Tastes like ass though.
Woodchip, 1-2 days? Maybe for stomache flu. If you have the flu as in the one where you cough up giant balls of snot.... that is nasty crap and lasts 1-2 weeks.
I had it probably 2-3 times in one year once on top of having a hernia operation. It borked my cross country training so I really sucked the next year and almost screwed up my education I was getting straight A's and almost failed because I was gone all the time with problems.
Not to mention, when I get the flu, I always get really nasty nosebleeds that last for hours. Sometimes running steady streams out of both nostrils so I always end up going to the doctor possibly a number of times before it's over just because of nosebleeds.
Stay the crap away from caffien and potatoe chips!! I know they are really tempting but stay away from them!!
Rent lots of movies and play lots of games. Sleep every chance you get though. I usually choose to play games or work on 3D art.
