That was one of the least funny things I've ever seen posted. Reminds me of one of my favorite Ozy and Millie comics -- "you know those people in the background laughing? They're pretty stupid."
Not at all... I intentionally didn't watch the movies for a long time, just because I didn't like the whole "nerds have to like Star Wars" mindset. I finally watched it for the first time about a year ago (picked up the trilogy for 5 bucks at a thrift store.) I thought it was pretty weak, but at least it was a fun story. Episode I was OK, and Episode II was incredibly lame.
I was laughing at some of the SW fans in the video clip... but the insult dog was amazingly dumb. He reminded me of that not-funny kid from 7th grade who'd always say stuff about people's moms. The uproarious laughter whenever he talked... man... must be a stupid audience.
"Noone cares about your opinion" is not an opinion, it's a false statement. Now if you said "I don't care about your opinion" or "I think you're an idiot", that would be perfectly fine.
Lothar is anything but holier-than-thou; he was just stating his honest opinion.
I'd say for 95% of us he is holier then thousus
....he IS tho.
actually, when I was in my teens i had a lot of opinions like that, so this really is no big deal to me. "Holier than tho"? That's a bit weak. He didn't say he rammed it down anyone's throat or anything. When you really look at the starwars series, it's "a bit" melodramatic and over done. The idea is great, but it has its shortfalls. He is right tho. Episode 2 was lame. Too much going on and not enough conveyed. You can figure out what's going on in people's heads but there really should have been 2 movies there instead of one. ... and better actors .. er strike that .. better scripting. Lucas is awesome creatively and FX with technical and the like. But he is not a storyteller. That's not a bad thing, unless you try telling stories with huge budgets.
I wasn't particularly intending to comment on the merits of Star Wars itself, except that Grendel's question seemed to suggest that my thoughts on the un-funniness of the lame dog had something to do with being a Star Wars fanboy. Clearly, they do not.
I just thought the insult dog was stupid. It was like middle-schooler insults, and not even very good ones. A guy with the budget of Conan should be able to do better... and I don't get why his audience thinks it's so funny.
To reply to your original thought without flames, I'd have to agree. It is very gutterish in humor. But I find it funny. Perhaps you don't have a very enlightened sense of humor. Don't worry, I won't hold it against you.
Lothar's opinions are just great.....FOR ME TO POOP ON!
Lighten up Lothar. Silly juvenile humor isn't going to be the death of anyone. It's the fact that it makes people laugh that matters. Even the silliest of things can brighten someones day
