So if the upper control arm breaking free from the chassis didn't get you, the slow wear on the The brake line would surely do the job!
I heard a klunk from the passenger side when I was unloading her from the flatbed yesterday. I was not very happy when I found this! The friggin knuckle-head that welded in a new panel to the left of the brake line didn't bother replacing the grommet, or re-seating the upper control arm guide after he finished. He just replaced the inspection cover and called it a done deal.
This is why I don't trust mechanics. If something had happened, I bet the jerk would have claimed Adult ADD and walked away clean!

Yup, the '68. I have to do some work to it before the season starts, so reconverted the "LAN center" back to a garage after last weeks party. This is just after the flatbed left her in the driveway... It's kind of disturbing looking at it with snow in the background
It's been 15 years and 60,000 miles since I rebuilt the motor, so I'm going to pull it and see what's what. I'm also updating the C4 to a newer AOD (gotta love the extra gears!)
After finding this, I'll probably rip the suspension down just to make sure there isn't any furter damage.
Why all the work you ask? I'm trying to talk the wife into the Power Tour this year. They are running from WI to Kissimmee Fl this time. Driving a few thousand miles with other like minded individuals just seems like a cool vacation to me.
I figure right now I have about a 10% chance of getting away with this... We will have to wait and see.

I would stop in and have a long talk with whoever let that pass for workmanship.
Glad you weren't driving down the road that would of made for some interesting handling characteristics.
The Power Tour would be a lot of fun, I hope you get to go!
As long as you're going to have the engine out you might as well weld this in place Linky
