Brillant question.
On the Kingston Mall shooting:
Reporter asking question of eye witness
"So was there any warning this was going to happen"
Yeah, warning...thats why we stuck around
"Do you have any idea what the motive for the shooting was?
Sure, they (shooters) called me before hand to explain why they were going to do this so I wouldn't be mad at them. This was when they warned me they were coming.

The gunman was tackled by employees. In Texas the employees would shoot the perp! God blessed Texas.
Last year some thieves tried to rob the cash bag from a storeowner, and the owner's son and the son's friend both pulled guns out from the store and chased the perps. They had a running/driving gunbattle. The thieves ended up crashing their car, one of the thieves was shot, the employees and friend were unhurt and weren't charged, and the cops were smiling at the easy capture! Another fine example of Texans using proper gun control to hit the bad guys. Yeeehaaaaw!

And that is what would land you in jail. While you have the right to shoot and kill someone that is threatening your life, once they run away there is no longer a threat to your life. If you shoot and kill them while they are running away you will more than likely be charged with murder. Being a cowboy will only get you so far.KlubMarcus wrote: and the owner's son and the son's friend both pulled guns out from the store and chased the perps.
Not in Texas!!!woodchip wrote:And that is what would land you in jail. If you are in fear of your life or they have pulled a gun no jury there will convict you of anything.
Better laws are in Mississippi and Alabama if you catch your wife cheating (in the act) you shoot em both and go free. You shoot only one and they charge you.
In Texas cops tell you if you shoot someone on you doorstep drag them inside so you won't get charged with anything.
As y'all can tell I am a bit pro gun. My view is this. If someone breaks in my house their life is forfeit. They knew they were not supposed to be there and in an act of wrong. I will rack the shotgun once as warning but if I get a shot then I will take it. I hope to hell never to have to do that. I want more to not have my friends read about me getting killed by some burgler.

They weren't even charged by the cops because they shot the perps. Texas juries will let the son and friend go if it goes to trial.woodchip wrote:And that is what would land you in jail.
Anyone playing Descent knows that is total BS! The best shot is from the six o'clock position where the enemy cannot see you and their weapons are pointed the other way. While you have the right to shoot and kill someone that is threatening your life, once they run away there is no longer a threat to your life.
This is Texas baby! We are cowboys and we will take the shot. Heck, I've got an NRA card in my wallet. If you shoot and kill them while they are running away you will more than likely be charged with murder. Being a cowboy will only get you so far.

I'm a Texan Marcus, born there and grew up there. I can't remember how many times some punk moved there and thought that made him a cowboy. You sound like one of those posers. Where are you really from anyway, eastern europe maybe?KlubMarcus wrote:This is Texas baby! We are cowboys and we will take the shot. Heck, I've got an NRA card in my wallet.
Woodchip is right, once the imminent danger is passed the need for self defense is gone. Just because a jury might not find guilt doesn't mean you aren't guilty. See O.J. Simpson for an example.
