is there any other way? i need to rip a movie outof a swf, since i can't play SWF files very well.

is the "macromedia flash" program the only way? are there 3rd party applications, or does macromedia have a monopoly

Well there are many many programs that export to swf format.

If you just want to play a swf file though, open the file in your browser and the plugin will play it for you nicely. :)

no it doesn't play "nicely" in a browser. that's why i opt to play them in a media player program instead, media player classic is generally my choice (however it requires flash to be installed into IE).

i was having some troubles with it (the bracketed part was how i fixed it) at the time, but still it'd be nice to know what else can create SWFs becides macromedia's suite of programs.

He's trying to convert a SWF to a movie so that he doesn't have to use the Flash player.

Sorry buddy, you're stuck.
