International help requested for 8 year old boy and class

Post by Cuda68-2 »

I frequent the Mandrake Linux boards and saw this post stickied and thought you guy's might help out the kid and his school project. Here's the URL to the original posting:

http://forum.mandrakeclub.com/viewtopic.php?t=33733

I live in Michigan, USA.
I was approached by my 8 year old son this evening with a problem they are having in school. They have a map of the world in their class room and their teacher has asked the students to speak with their families and friends and ask them to send post cards in to the school. Each post card will be logged as to where it was sent from. The map is white, with black boundaries between countries. As they receive a post card from a country, that country will be colored in. The original idea was to try to get a post card from every state in the USA. As I mentioned, that has been expanded to every country in the entire world.
My Son, Tristen, asked me tonight, " How would we ever ask someone in a different country to help us, if we don't know anyone?? Can we call some numbers on the phone and ask them to help?? ( I am still laughing at that one) I pondered the question for a while, and couldn't think of an answer, until I turned to my computer running Linux 10.1. Then it hit me...an operating system that gets it's input from every corner of the world has the connections to people living in every corner of the world!!

So my question is:
Would you be kind enough to send a postcard to my son's class from whatever corner of the world you are in??

I thought they fixed it so people couldn't use those oh so very annoying all-caps subjects.

Hey count on a card from Nuckland.
I live in a Tourist area and I am literally surrounded by postcards at every turn.

Want animals or scenery?

That was on the UBB board, not here. ;) At any rate, the thread title has been fixed.

Just so you know Cuda, you can hit the edit button and fix the thread title yourself. You don't need mod powers to do it.

None of you actually stopped and thought on the veracity of this?
