I would be interested in one of those too-And can I put up some info on my
3d pro page? I get a few requests for help every few months (still.. I'm amazed) and this would be a good alternative!

Sure, feel free to add info to your page -- I remember seeing it a few years ago, great site !
After this is done, I'm planning to put together a DIY guide -- would you be interested in adding it to your site ?

That would be a great addition, put it together and I'll host it.

Arrrgh, Hostile ordered one? One of mine was meant for him. Could you knock me down to 3?
BTW, if you were depending on my bigger order and end up short on cash, I'll go ahead and take what I originally ordered. Otherwise, I'd rather let someone else have the ones I don't need anymore.

Ok. Thx for the offer to keep the order up, right now it looks good tho. Now, if that board would get along .. (hint

Update...
Board at 4th pass to Grendel for review, we added a ground plane today to minimize EMI issues.
A 3D representation of the board, less capictors...
The current 4th pass layout with ground plane visible...

If all goes well tomorrow we should be able to send these out for re-quote.

Gren,
How do we get the payment to you for the converter(s) ordered? The 3d image of the circiut board is really cool, I expecially like the little GL touch there.

UPDATE - Boards ordered today ....
Ok, I just got back from the board shop, the order has been paid for!
Assuming all goes well in approximately 2 weeks I will pick up the boards, They will need to be mailed to Grendel for kitting/assembly.
SO somewhere around Feb 24th we should have boards in hand!

What's the 556 being used for that you couldn't do in software?

pATCHes,
Grendel is out of pocket until sometime Tuesday, don't be expecting a reply till then.

Emulating the X1 & Y2 axis of a gameport (monostable timers). The 3DP can detect the discharge of the RC component that starts the timing operation and uses that as a command (transfer data in digital mode, switch to digital in analog mode). The discharge could probably be emulated by pulling the line low, but switching to digital is actually a rather complex sequence of timed commands involving the discharge time of the timers so I just left the 555s in. Does that answer the question ?

Grendel,
Please drop me off the list for a unit. I was organizing it for one of the guys here and I went to check with him (yet again) that he still wanted it and he finally realised he would be paying US dollars for it and didn't like what the exchange would end up as.

Just got off the phone with the board manufacturer everything is progressing fine.
We will possibly see board tomorrow, but Monday looks more realistic from my perspective.
Grendel, I would be carefull we ordered 3 or 4 panels that doesn't mean we will get 100% yield
Posted: Thu Feb 23, 2006 4:25 pm
by Grendel
I hope it's not less than 67% ? Wasn't it 20/panel ?
Posted: Thu Feb 23, 2006 4:34 pm
by KoolBear
yes I think it was 20 per panel, the order was for 3 panels so ...
40 should be easily attainable

*Whew* ..
OTOH, having a couple spare parts wouldn't be that bad..

As of today Tueday Feb 28th the boards are enroute to Grendel!.
I should have mine operational tonight, I ended up breaking one of the wee capicitors

If you broke C2 or C3 it's not a big deal, the board should work just fine w/o them (they are for keeping noise out of the IC's Vpp). C4 & C5 are for the oscillator, C6-C9 are the sinks for the 556 timers -- all six need to be there.
