Piggy (WarPig) lives there. This is the last we heard about him and his family. This email is dated Monday the 29th.
SlowBoy said that Pig and Pixx packed up and split as directed by the authorities. I tried to call Kev and got a "phone company problems" announcement but I'm sure they are safe and dry.

Hope we hear from him soon.

In the meantime, my family has decided to help locally. There's supposed to be 200 families coming from the affected areas.

More than 100 volunteers labored to get 20 apartments ready for families by Thursday.

A social worker on Allied Drive launched the project. Most of the cleaning and painting is finished, but the units are waiting to be furnished with household supplies.

The group hopes to raise enough money to keep families functioning for at least three months.
They're coming all the way up to Madison.... unreal.

Anyway, we've got a ton of stuff we were gonna sell at a yard sale, but instead we're gonna donate it to this effort. These people are coming here with nothing but the shirts on their backs.

Donate! Time, Money, Effort!

We made it back okay, had to drive Cannonball-style from Memphis (no gasoline on the interstate here) but we're staying at my mom's in Thibodaux, about 2 hours from the city. We went back into town Monday, and amazingly my house had no damage! However, it still looks very bad, and it'll be a while before they let us back in to stay. I'll post pictures when I get a chance.

After 9 days 3 hrs, 44 min. I have electricity. Still have a lot of cleaning up to do. A military truck pulling a load of gasoline with a military and sheriff escort just went by. Hopefully the gas situation will improve soon.

I feel for those who are worse off than I.
