I support the pledge, it’s all symbolic and not binding anyway.

Like flip said…it’s a thing to do, that gives you a sense of community. Reading more into it than that…well…

Its not like…I’m moving to Canada.

No you can’t, you took a pledge…

You guys are right. I got a little sidetracked. These treads tend to morph into the six degrees of Kevin Bacon.

I really don't care about those words in the pledge, despite my rants. I usually recite it rote anyway without thinking. I only disapprove of the reason those words were put in there in the first place, a military veteran president long ago putting something remotely religious in our pledge as a way to say we were a better nation than some commie nation didn't like at the time. Kind of senseless posturing.

People are willing to argue about those two words, or argue about how abortion law is nefarious Christian influence, but is there anyone willing to step up and say "yes, I think we should have a pledge of allegiance"?
I'm all for promoting nationalism to a certain degree...to a certain non-fascist degree....
I don't think the pledge, just being recited like phonetic robots and moving on to lessons each morning really accomplishes anything toward that though so no need to defend the pledge itself for me.

I wonder if the pledge was rewritten now to accurately reflect our current circumstances, how many people would willingly recite it? Heh, I may write one myself :P

Perhaps instead of saying pledge of allegiance to America, we should pledge ourselves to the UN

If you want to get your government on board just cut right to the chase pledge to your political party because that is what is at the root of all their complaints and machinations....

I thought Lucifer wasn't in the Bible to begin with?

Isaiah 14:12-14
King James Version
12How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

It was Bush that tricked him following Cheney's orders.

Unedited version. The laughter at the end just goes to show their actual contempt for our sovereignty and our laws. These people are no friends.

because the "lucid fear" is the only reason 'God' is still in the official pledge. He's the god of our lovely politicians.
