We are two guys. Be happy you have any news at all :]
The portal relaunch is not the big news, that will come sunday.

Nah we still need a week to get the portal finished.

They wrote in their homepage: \"Opening Sunday, July 8th!\"
I hope they will get ready until then...
By the way, who is \"Vorpal Entertainment\"?
A synonyme to Uplink Studios or a publisher???

It wasn't really supposed to get hit this hard yet

I'm a little bit confused now...
Will you open a new domain for the launch next sunday or will you keep the old one and the expiration was by mistake?
Or what does it mean?
Please explain...

by Einsiedler
If I surf the domain now, I'm asked for name and password. It seems as if they extended the validity of their domain. After the shock of the expiring domain I think this is a good sign.
Maybe till next sunday we will see more of the new portal - I'm already really curious.
Anything new about the announced big news???

I dont mean to be a backseat moderator, but should this be moved to the Core Decision section?

It has been in the cafe for months, no point in moving it now.

Bah. I just don't have time to sit down and write the updates right now. Basically me and a partner have formed a subteam (Vorpal Entertainment) that are going to take over getting the demo done. We are going to relaunch the portal and get things going again, keep everyone updated with our progress, you know the deal. We are hoping this will drastically improve our production rate with more skilled hands being in the mix, i.e. no volunteer workers that peter out after a couple weeks.

Alright, nice to hear. *goes into hurry up and wait mode*

Why can't they just update us after there is something to update us about?
Not this \"Update: we will have an update soon!\"
Posted: Mon Jul 02, 2007 9:02 pm
by psionik
Because it has been a while since I posted anything about the game so I wanted to let you guys know we are still working on it.
Posted: Tue Jul 03, 2007 1:10 pm
by Einsiedler
So I assume there won't be big news for us before the portal relaunch - am I right?
And this will not happen before next sunday?
You can say \"yes\" and concentrate on your work - that's OK for me...

Correct

This thread is still alive?????
\" Really big Update Sunday \"
Sunday comes
\"nothing to report maybe next Sunday\"
Just leave them ALONE to do whatever they may be doing!!!
Lock this thread Already
We Only want to see a Thread Posted from Uplink when the Demo is released or an email to beta test their demo
Until then I would rather see this sub-forum a graveyard..... instead of 5 or 6 concurrent \"What If\", Better Not\", \"When Is\" or \"I am Neo(Samus) you guys suck \" threads

Then don't read it, problem solved.

HEH!
I check almost every day...this is the perfect place for the thread. Do NOT lock this thread...it's become an icon
\"update coming soon\" is just fine.
Thanks for keeping us in mind Psionik

Yeah I spoke to them, they said to tell you to talk to 1995 - They want their game back.

The web site is fine. It WORKS, and that's all that is needed.
I don't want you wasting time building a big fancy web site when you could be working on the game.
Posted: Sat Jul 07, 2007 9:37 pm
by psionik
Fact is, I Can't build a big fancy web site :]
I like the dryness of it and plan to pretty much keep it this way. It's better than going out and begging someone to do it for free.

x2 Kilarin.
It will do for now.
Lets worry about
The Game.

X 3 Red.
Single Player will come in its own time - though I would urge you guys not to turn your back totally on that aspect of the game. Believe you me - there will be a lot of people asking for a single player game if CD turns out to be sucessful.
Seriously, If you guys want help in marketing / advertising the game once it's ready, feel free to look me up. Advertising and marketing (esp. low budget campaigns) is my thing. I've been playing D1-3 since 95 so this is a subjet close to my heart. (Work examples are available on request.

Single player is still on the menu, we are just trying to keep things real here, meaning that we aren't gonna bite off more than we can chew.
Posted: Sun Jul 08, 2007 11:14 am
by d3jake
Bah, you don't need a 24 level campaign like in D2, just something with a good plot, and a good ramp up of level difficulty and weapons.
Posted: Sun Jul 08, 2007 12:29 pm
by Einsiedler
Just a thought:
If you want to add Singleplayer later (maybe a year after multiplayer), then I suggest making 2-3 Levels anyway with a very exciting Story and an unexpected preliminary end (e.g. player looses ship and all weapons and has to wait for revenge).
Then it should be said that there will come a single player version after a while, together with a good compilation of meanwhile available multiplayer levels. (like D3-Mercenary)
This 2nd product will bring money again and is a 2nd chance to bring people to 6dof. In addition the 2nd product will possibly already be heavily supported by the community and volunteers. For the buyers of the first product the announcement of a following addition to the game sounds good - everyone loves to become more levels and/or playmodes after the first year of playing...
2-3 levels \"as a teaser\" sounds like a compromise...

Just make it SP campaign CAPABLE, then let the user community build SP campaigns for you.
