The really popular titles these days get $10 million budgets, like Gears of War, World of Warcraft.
Halo 2 had more.

Half life 2 cost Valve around $40m to develop. But I have also seen games get a $39m budget and really make a bad game. It all depends on how you manage it, though I doubt any A+ title could be made for less then 5m

From what some dude who should know more about it than I do told me, Battlefield 2 had something in the realm of $200m. (Edit: I doubt they would have used all of that though.)

It didn't have enough time though, clearly.

What Descent probally cost them like 50,000 to produce and the sold millions of copies at $40-50 a pop
