Hey I'd support giving kiddy realdolls to pedophiles. Keeps them off the street. Any sex offender-type, really.
I wonder how many married men of a few years have found that realldoll site and, after looking at their wife, thought seriously about it. I bet quite a few. If Realldoll made ones up to the quality that I pic'd (but with a 25yo face instead) And marketed them here for less than $7,000(!!), Fedex drivers would suddenly start wondering why people are ordering such large boxes.

REmember that bit in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? "With a bit of luck, his life was ruined forever. Always thinking that just behind some narrow door in all of his favorite bars, men in red woolen shirts are getting incredible kicks from things he'll never know."
As for Paedophilia. Do they like adult midgets? Or maybe adults with one of those growing diseases that makes you always look 9 or so - They need love too!
(i think i saw that in some webcomic, it was a good point i think. who the hell has sex with these little ppl?)
i wouild also like to quote somethign from the comic Transmetropolitan issue 7. "Would intelligent robots be like people? Or would they BE people?"
the whole issue 7 was pretty good on the subject, it followed someone as they downloaded their human consciousness into a cloud of nanobots, are they still human or are they just a robot?
That's why this thread asking "is it ok to have a ★■◆●/relationship/marriage with a robot?" i split into:
"how is a robot different to a person?"
& "who the hell cares where you stick it?"

This is a bad idea on so many levels. Reinforcing the fantasy only strengthens it, which seems like it would virtually guarantee that said fantasies will be acted out upon a real victim. Worse yet is the fact that the perp will have been able to rehearse their perversities and refine them.
I vote NO.

But why do they have an incentive to act out on someone they're not allowed to act out on, instead of the 'person' that they're encouraged to?

I am not so sure about that. There is evidence that having porn freely available reduces the amount of rapes. So it could well be that something similar happens with paedophilia. I rather have somebopy addicted to internet kiddie porn than stalking the streets...

There is evidence that the sexual fantasies of mentally ill people can evolve into reality no matter how sick and twisted they may be, but I'm not qualified to render an expert judgement. It's my opinion however, that anything which reinforces a predatory fantasy is a bad idea.

Before you all pooh pooh the idea of becoming emotionally attached to a inanimate object, remember the love you had for your first hot rod (ricer to you young punks ), the affection crew members had for a certain naval ship or bomber plane? A favorite sword or firearm? History is filled with men becoming attached to such things.
If the doll can cook, clean house, take out the garbage and be ready to vibrate when I want her to, all the time with a smile on her face....sign me up.

it can't love you back. It's emotional masturbation. It's worthless...and vain.

Sure it can! Granted, it's artificial love, but it's love all the same.

It might feel the same but there would have to be a suspension of disbelief.
By the way, I've come full circle on the idea of pedophile-bots. I've modified the idea somewhat... but I think that it's a good idea now. I just think they should have guillotine blades and 911 auto-call built in

Love in Vain?
Wasn't that from The Rolling Stones Let It Bleed album?
Well, I followed her to the station with a suitcase in my hand,
Yeah, I followed her to the station with a suitcase in my hand,
Well, its hard to tell, its hard to tell, but all true loves in vain.
When the train come in the station I looked her in the eye,
Well, the train come in the station I looked her in the eye,
Well, I felt so sad and lonesome that I could not help but cry.
When the train left the station, it had two lights on behind,
Yeah, the train left the station, it had two lights on behind,
Yeah, the train left the station, it had two lights on behind,
Well, the blue light was my baby and the red light was my mind.
All my loves in vain.
All, all my loves in vain.
Yeah that's the one.
Who says you have to be loved back for it to be love?
