I would concur that most Islamophobia is fueled by alarmist and/or fundamentalist Christians - many of whom have published books about the subject - but I am sceptical myself as to whether their claims hold any truth. If you bend things enough you can claim that Christians should be genocidal as well, while those with actual reason can work out that they shouldn't be.

I do hold out hope that Islam has similar potential somewhere, although I am not familiar enough with it to know for sure. There are at least enough (i.e. overwhelming majority) moderate Muslims to make it seem fairly likely that Islam can co-exist with the rest of the world without trying to annex it.

Havent read the thread, but my predictions, due to it being a thunderbunny thread:

Thunderbunny spews copied stuff against Islam, acting as if Islam caused all the problems in the world, and the damage other religions have done.

Roid or TigerAssault, or other Canadians or Australians make remarks about islam, writing it off as nothing. They ignore the fact that islam does say to kill non-believers, and other fun stuff.

Bettina will make a few appearances, also saying islam is the cause of everything, and will most likely bring up women, yet ignoring the hateful things christianity says, as well as saying nothing about the peaceful muslims.

Roid and Tigerassault, etc, begin to, for a lack of a better word, rape her, writing her off as well.

This thread eventually goes away, because there is no argument, just a rabble about Bettina and Thunderbunny shouting \"ISLAM SUCKS!\" while Roid and Tigerassault shouting \"HATERS!\".

The end, I'll check back in a few hours to see if I am right.

Actually Dak, we're attacking TB because of his extremist views. and if that's wrong then i don't want to be right.

sure if someone says one hateful thing, i'd go after that thing. but if someone shows a pattern of hateful views, then ya, i'll go after the person.

I disagree that Christianity says hateful things, but you could certainly portray it that way. (Even including homosexuality; \"despise the sin, love the sinner\")

I suspect the same thing may have happened to Islam.

Just because they follow Islam does not mean that they want to kill us all. Sorry, but unless you can meet every Muslim face to face and ask them, you have no business saying that, sorry...but its true. Sure you can quote passages from an internet web page (because we all know how accurate they can be) and say that its proof, but I'd prefer it if I could goto a libary and look it up. Or maybe the address of somebody I could mail (smail mail mind you) to ask about things. But as with any religion, some groups may choose to read the Koran as saying that they should kill all non-belivers, and other groups who \"glaze\" over that part. Its all a matter of interepretation of their holy book. And you cannot possibly tell me that because their Muslims that they don't do that, because it'll be a load of hogwash.

And for that matter, I could easily quote verses from the bible that would make christianity look just as "evil". Maybe you should read Exodus 21:7 and then come back to me about how "evil" muslims are to women. Then theres "Lev. 25:44" which allows the ownage of slaves. Then theres "Exodus 35:2" which says that anyone working on the sabbath (Sunday) should be put to death. Wear glasses or contacts? Don't bother going to church then, because you're forbidden to according to "Lev. 21:20". Shall I go on?

If you go back and look at my earlier posts, you will find that I have referred to God as an evil entity and the bible as a fiction book… both invented by man. I’ve never hidden that fact here. Maybe not, since I only said it a hundred times.

The big difference is that I can carry a picture of Jesus pretty much anywhere in the civilized world without fear but I can’t carry a picture of Allah anywhere in the entire Middle East and elsewhere without risking jail, stoning or execution. No, you've flip-flopped between being a christian and an athiest. Try again.

See, the problem here is that nobody believes you when you say that. Mainly because, in just aboutt every thread like this, you say what terrible things Muslims would do if you did something they didn't like. We don't mean 'all Muslims' or 'Muslims in general', we mean Muslims.
Also, Islam is, for a lack of better words, a series of ideas. They can't do a bit of damage at all, only the people that follow it can.
