Feels good to have ruffled feathers, don't it? That's the secondary purpose of the internet (the primary, of course, being porn).
My feather don't get ruffled that easily.
I don't take television as the authority for what I should think or feel. And to those that do, or let that happen to their kids... well, people tune into what they want to hear. Men and women alike.
Television is a persuasive teacher, however subtle( or not so subtle in many cases) the message may be. The average child witnesses thousands(the figure was something like over 15000) of televsion murders prior to the age of 18, it has to have an effect.
Add/commercials are carefully written and played-out in order to heavily appeal to the target audience.
It does have an effect, even on people who are aware of its agenda. My point is, you don't have to take television as an authority. Through all its microlessons it slowly shapes and distorts your line of thinking without you realizing it. Slowly Desensitizing, it allows the not-so-normal to become the norm. Whether or not it's intentional is the question in my mind. I don't think television is bad, there are some awesome shows on if you look for them. I don't watch much TV(couple hours a week, maybe) but when I do it's generally TLC, Animal Planet or some other educational show(love documentarys).
I completely agree. In fact, I've never encountered anyone who didn't completely agree.
I know quite a few and they have an attitude of 'If a man can do it, I can do it better'. It's the 'better' part, the strive to obtain an advanced position. They already are better than men in so many areas, but they're not satified with that, they strive to be better than men in all areas and it's impossible. Conversely, men are naturally better at some things than women.
I'm not pro or anti anything with respect to feminism, except for the fact that reasonable equality makes sense (duh).
Reasonable equality makes perfect sense.
So my point in this thread (and this is the last time I'll harp on it, because apparently none of you are curious about it - and then, why should you be?) is:
With the exception of kurupt's weird coworkers, is this actually a problem for anyone? I dunno. I doubt it's worth all the smoke being blown in this thread (some of which includes threats of violence!). I like venting anger as much as the next guy - moreso - but call a spade a spade.
Yes, it is a problem and if you believe that "kurupt's weird co-workers" are the exception I'll repsectfully disagree. 70%(maybe more) of the women I know feel that they can do anything a man can do and have the feminazi attitude, in my eyes 70% is the majority.
It may not be a highly visible problem currently, but I believe in a pro-active approach.[John Kerry] I think it is visible, just look at the number of women *choosing* to be single mothers.[/John Kerry]
I agree that 'threats of violence' is completely unnecessary.
Have a good weekend, Kai.
I sent you an e-mail a few days ago regarding the 3dpro I still owe you for. I'd like to settle it if you don't mind.
