Ok guys. Here is all the info you should need for tonight.

We should all meet up in the #descent3-entropy channel on gamesurge (same irc server #descent3 is on).

I plan on using a SOD, I know some of you don't like it, but don't really have a choice. I will post the ip:port for the server in #descent3-entropy channel and here when its game time.

Chat Server: irc.gamesurge.net
Channel: #descent3-entropy
Voice Server: ts.clan-merc.com or 24.3.251.137
Voice Password: booya
Game Server: 207.236.55.11:2195
Map: Halogen
Ships: All Ships
Weapons: All but BS and Invulnerability

See ya there guys. Check back for any change in info.

There are no sharks or invulns in 3B, so don't bother with disabling them. :)

Pyros only? What the heck happened to the D3 community while I was gone? Folks can't hack skippy Phoenix and whomping tri-fusion these days? Or is it because the Pyro is the best Mass Driver ship and the MD whores are all that is left playing? :P

Taking out ship choice reduces the strategy. No phoenixes for lightning penetration raids and chasing down weakened enemy ships. No magnums for grunt duty. No speed options for open levels, no rat options for tighter levels. This is what D3 has sunk to, eh? Let's all fly the same ships so whiners will have less to b1tch about. :(

Agreed on the ship choice. Although I'll likely fly a pyro, it would be nice for the other ships to be available.

IMO, we should just ban skippy connections and keep all the ships ;) I've seen people skip in tanks before, and I'm not talking "trichording" I'm talking "Sin's old modem connection on Kali"... banning the phoenix just means the skippy ships can skip shorter distances.

GG Solo, I only play one entropy game per spawned SOD server, things start to get messy on SOD after the first level reset or first hour.

Till next time, cya!

from my team, only Liquid Fire and I were on voice while the opposing team had all of theirs on TS. I guess that made it real easy for them 2 woop us the 2nd and 3rd game :P

great games though, we should play entropy more often :)

Very Very good game guys. All the games were fun. I hope to have the same turn out next time.

Next time you say? Yes, thats right.. next tuesday night. Same d3 time, same d3 place.

Hopefully I will be able to find a better host for next time.

If you dont have Teamspeak, go download if the next game. I will have the same teamspeak server up so we can use it again.

So spread the word, Entropy is coming tuesday night.

Man, that was awesome :) Javed, you and I were a pretty good team, though no one else would help us out :P Only problem was, my speakers are half burned-out (long story) so I couldn't hear you too well.

I will attempt to show up again next time and I will practice before the game so you won't have to wait for me to warm up!

Krom is right about the server going to heck after a level or two. That thing was whacked out by the third level we played... ghost ships, team mixups and worse. Still fun, but we need to formalize some procedures, get everybody onto one page so the GAME QUALITY CAN BE BETTER. We all want that, right? :)

Some suggestions:

* If we end up using SoD (and thank goodness we have that option) we should ALL exit after each game and respawn the server.

* Everybody needs Team Speak. Just grab it. If you've got broadband and a microphone, you should be good to go.

* Levels should be picked in advance, and then we stick to the plan.

* Balanced teams are more fun. Let's work together to get the teams as fairly matched as possible.

* If we drop below eight players and can't get any more players, let's switch from Entropy to another Mod that can be played with smaller teams, and then keep going. Mods that rock with smaller teams:
- Guardian
- Teams (Gwar's Team Anarchy mod, WITH friendly fire!)
- Regular Anarchy

Those were the biggest problems we had with tonight's games: teams were unbalanced for both of the first games, and all the later games were undermanned. Plus we had confusion on one level about whether to stay with that level or respawn the server, and the server going flaky after a couple of levels.

I suggest that for next week, we start on 3BE level 8, then level 9, and then if we still have enough folks level 1 also, BUT AFTER EACH GAME RESPAWN THE SERVER. If everyone knows what to expect, we'll be more likely to sustain good gaming for longer.

Oh, and anybody who missed out on tonight... don't miss next week. :P

why dont you just get esa to host ? or sarge that would solve your server issues, you could probably get them to host 2 servers 1 entropy and another, for another mod just incase we get undermaned like you said

Do you have a way for me to get in touch with Sarge or ESA?

Guys I thoroughly enjoyed playing entropy with you all last night. What a great set of games ... I look forward to doing this again next tuesday night and I HIGHLY recommend that those that did not show up try to make it next time.

BTW Krom, you suck :)

well I wont make it the next 2 weeks, I'll be in NJ from the 10th to the 24th. And yeah, it should be some other day rather than Tuesdays. like Fridays or Saturdays?

Well the thing with making it on a weekend is that now that its summer most people will be out doing things on the weekend, so less of a turn out.

I mean we can have it any day really, I personally will not be able to make it on the weekends. Just let me know what day, if enuff people agree on a day then it will be that day.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday are all no-go for me. Thursdays would be iffy, some weeks.

That leaves Monday or Tuesday.

Of course, I wouldn't be opposed to Monday -AND- Tuesday. :D

things that would have made last night even more fun for me:

1- knowing the levels to be played in advance.

2- better servers. sod is great, but let's respawn a new one after each game.

3-having a rough idea of teams before we get into the server. this way they can be prebalanced and the teams can take greater advantage of team speak and can even set roles for players before we get in.

I already know all the levels in #3bE, everyone should know them, good levels.

Yep. If you don't know all the 3BE levels by heart, go learn them.

Can SOD spawn Guardian games? What about Teams mod games?

3B Classics is a great set for playing either Guardian or Teams with two teams, with four to six players, for when things thin out at the end of the night.

Bubba is right about team games being THE SHIZNIT on LAN, but they are the shiznit (lower case) on any decently playable connection and server.

As for Mel's request to order teams in advance, I agree that would be an ideal thing to do. I'm not sure how well it works out in practice. Pretty much need ONE PERSON IN CHARGE and everybody signed on to adhering to his decisions, to make that kind of thing work. That's doable at a LAN or maybe with regulars in a chat channel (Kali, IRC), but it just does not work with new players, ornery players who won't take direction from others, and any situation where not everyone is plugged in to the same communication device.

We might be able to make something like that work out eventually, but I'm guessing that's too ambitious for next week.

i love the 3be levels, but i will not have enough time to dedicate to learning all of them to my satisfaction. i think i have a genetic weakness to understanding symetric/relective type levels.
im asking for the ability to concentrate my efforts on one or two core levels to be played that week.

as for set teams, im not sure we need totally set teams, but maybe a nice set of core regulars around which we could wedge in irregulars. at least set teams before we get in the server.

Well I suggested levels 8 and 9 for next week. Level 8 is fairly compact (for a 3BE level) and level 9 has only four bases per side.

Or if people prefer (and we're going to be respawning the server after each game) we COULD pick a single level to focus on each week, and play it over and over. Would people prefer that? Or is variety better?
