Started playing last night. I'm making some pretty nice progress.

Progress Quest is thoroughly ridiculous.

Most of those have bloom turned on, I'm sure. Especially the bottom center one.

There are some nice shots there Tetrad, but in all honestly, they remind me to muhc of War3 style graphics. Most are angular in nature. In Doom 3 and HL2 the graphics don't seem so angular. Maybe it's just me.

the concept of style is lost on merlin.
not all games need to be photo-realistic, and that attidude is what driving the rash of non-original games.
You should turn down all the visual options in doom3, or hunt down some shots of it running on a V2, and then re-evaulate your opinion.

That's because Warcraft has always been Comic-book inspired. I'm sure that if Starcraft 2 were to ever be released (crosses fingers) that it will be much "rounder" and grungey-futuristic-humanish, just like Doom3 and HL2.
In fact, I don't like SC: Ghost specifically because it looks so much like WC3. That and it totally ruins the concept of Starcraft, but that aside...

Some very nice screenshots, that's for sure.
Good style & mood, but the low poly counts do hurt it overall.
I still like FFXI more though:

Those were taken on the PS2 though and look kinda low rest.
Check out some of the threads here for better screenshots (my linkshell (aka guild) forums).

It is not lost on me. It's just NOT my style. This is not wrong. It's MY opnion. You don't need to agree with it.

You felt like going out of your way to put it out there, you can't expect people not to challenge it.

You can challenge all you want till you are blue in the face, but it won't make a bit of difference to me. So, why even bother?

Why even bother stating your opinions in the first place?

Apparently the concept of style is also lost on Tetrad

Getting back on topic, the only new game I can see myself picking up in the near future is Myst 5, whenever it's released. Myst 4 is a true masterpiece, and since the fifth installment is supposed to pretty much wrap up the series, I'm hoping they do an even better job. Other than that, I'm not really looking forward to anything. I'm not an FPS or RPG fan in the least; I'm pretty much a two-trick pony with Descent and Freespace.
I might pick up Age of Empires 3, though. My main gaming concern in the near future will be picking up some of the N64 classics for the used system I recently purchased; I just finished up Ocarina of Time, and I'd like to grab some of the other hits, like Goldeneye, Majora's Mask, Mariokart 64, Perfect Dark, and Jet Force Gemini. If I had the dough, I'd pick up a Gamecube for the express purpose of getting Super Smash Bros. Melee; that game is amazingly addictive.

oh man, jet force gemini is an awesome game; really really under-rated. i love that game so much.

freedom of speech doesn't grant any immunity from the critizisms of your fellow citizens.

But there are now laws that state that you can not state your opinion. Both have their opinions and both have good opinions. They collide but both have a point to make. Thus, should one of them not be allowed to speak? Well then I suppose to be fair, the other should also not be allowed to speak. Then lets see how far conversation on this board gets us.

People, laws have absolutely nothing to do with it. Merlin made his silly point known, let's move on.

I'm sure there will be. Every single game blizzard has ever made was a smash hit. They just need to come up with a new story line.

SC2 damnit!
(High hopes I know
)
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory looks good.
God of War
Thats pretty much it for now. I missed out on a couple of games because of financial reasons. Mercenaries I'd still like to try out. Really looking forward to SOCOM III when that comes out.
As you can tell, not so into PC games anymore. Has to do with my system

I'm guessing either SC2 or Diablo 3 will be announced at this year's E3, blizzard are really big fans of having two on-going projects at any one point and announcing new games at E3, and now, with WoW done, they're gonna announce something to fill the hole.
Either that, or theyll make a new franchise... we'll see.

It has to be SC, soon you will be pushing out the generation that knows the SC game well. By now the longer they wait the more it will hurt them.

They may even announce both, with SC ghost finishing up soon.
I think if anything though, it WILL be SC2. It'd be perfect marketing on blizzard's part - releasing SCghost to get people excited about the upcoming SC2...

Starcraft came out the same time as D3 didn't it? I remember playing the Starcraft demo on my old 486 and getting it in June of 98. I also played Descent 2 on Kali with -MK-, the greatest Descent clan EVAR!
-MK-IronFist baby. Hellz ya. Though I can't believe it was 7 friggin years ago.
You know the funny thing about this board? You can have a post like Copsy's about screwing a 23 year old, and then right after it, a post by a little kid about waiting for Pokemon to come out. I find it ironic. I really hope that SC2 is announced, that'd be awesome.
I'm sorry Cops, but as much as I try to hide it by going outside and having a social life and being a real human, I'm really a nerd deep down
