  • Fixed: Miscolored textures in Descent 1 levels (some brainiac had put a function call essential for D1 texture handling into an assert macro, which are disabled in the release code, so that function was never called. You need a miracle to find bugs like that).
  • Reverted: Overcharging the fusion will turn the screen color from purple to white to yellow again.
  • Fixed: Firing angle and missing laser or vulcan shots or flares.

Background: Jeff250 has created a level with a pretty sophisticated architecture that causes some faces not to be rendered at certain view angles. It has turned out that this bug is caused by D2(X)'s hidden surface removal - not by the OpenGL driver. I have added an option both to d2x.ini ("-render_all_segs 0|1"} and to the toggles menu ("render entire mine") to get around this. Rendering the entire mine means that every side of every segment of the mine is drawn - whether visible or not - and that the OpenGL driver determines visibility based on each pixel's Z (depth) coordinate. This is a little slower (about 30%) than using D2's hidden surface removal, but will work for levels like yours (insane architecture btw, really cool ;)). On today's gfx hardware that speed penalty shouldn't be crucial.

  • Fixed: Semi-transparent walls (e.g. fuel sparks) behind other transparent walls (e.g. some cloaked wall) sometimes not being rendering if full mine rendering was enabled.
  • (Hopefully) Fixed: Textures sometimes "popping".
  • Changed: F3 key will now cycle through HUD modes (full screen -> cockpit -> bar hud -> full screen). If switching from cockpit view to the bar hud by pressing the minus key, pressing F3 will return to the cockpit view to stay compatible with the previous behaviour.
