That's constructive. Even if it involves removing something.
What I am/was basically trying to say is that a
select few of you crossed the line slightly with criticising TrackBall over his work. I admit I made the mistake of placing the blame over everyone, and for that I apologise.
Maybe it's a bit too negative. That's okay. Tell him that if you want. But please, people, just don't shoot the guy down eh? I'm aiming this at a small group who should know who they are.
Peace.

Being negative, where do I begin?
You are not gonna convince people of anything in this world. They make up their own minds.
Trackball wrote this giant document in retaliation to some words, from some guy, from a different planet that wrote something negative about descent. I mean think about it. Itâ??s not like Trackball is defending his little sisters honor or something. He wrote this massive document because of a game. That is his waste of time and he is entitled to it.
BUT! He used remarks by people that had no idea of the overall tone of his massive document and that is whack and whack it is. If they had knowingly conspired to be included in his devious plot (that will accomplish nothing) that would be a different story.
You want to do something? Write about the good ole days and what it descent did for you. For me, it let me be a kid again and I thank it and the players that made me laugh.
Enough of this, letâ??s type about depraved sexuality.

The DBB has something way better then what PD has, the DBB has many interesting personalities and characters, not just another spin on the generic noob.
Not all of us at PD are newbies, you know.
We've got our share of old-timers, unless you consider people like Thunderbird, Inquisitor, Asrale, Checkor, or Descenterace to be "n00bs with no personality." We provide a much more welcoming atmosphere to new players than here; without these people, this game would have died years ago. I won't deny that the DBB is a very unique community, but it's also a very close-knit one; I posted at PD for a year or two before I overcame enough of my intimidation to join here. Without PD, this community wouldn't have much in the way of file-hosting, either.
The DBB is also welcoming, but we aren't pushovers. I believe the only bar to entry on the DBB is you have to be able to stand on your own feet, anything else is fine with us. My impression of the prevailing feeling on the PD forums is a happy go lucky newbie playground, the DBB on the other hand is a veterans hospital. I like the DBB because people here are always open and express exactly what they think, even if they have something very negative to say. Once I took myself and some other things on the DBB too seriously and got flamed and smacked down by various people, it was a valuable experience. I am still friends with the guys that put me in my place, I probably get along with them even better because of it. People here will give you a reality check in a real hurry if they think you need one and I prefer it that way.

That has NOTHING to do with your statement about facts. Whats wrong? Can't point out any of them?

Trackball, you're making the same mistake again... trying to argue with the people who are flaming you.
Ignore them. Deal with those of us who've given constructive responses.

BLEH!! I have yet to flame this board!! or flame a flamer that needs flaming!!!
well except for the flaming-flamer KK/Gavote he was sexah!
But seriously Trackball, that document is depicting descent from the eyes and attitude resembling a c/s~h/l spaceboy reject! 9/10's rant 1/10's praise.. and you started that trend right on the cover page!! (thatx2 mobi)
Write like you are a descenter selling descent!! 10/10 praise with no references to other communities!! Try not to work it from their level...as to which currently you have!
Sidenote : when you post something for review be prepared to get the blunt truth with no sugar coating from me, everyone knows that here. If it rocks I will stroke your ego, if it sucks.. well you get the picture..
No matter who it is replying, you shall put you pride aside and take it like a man or woman or tranny, which ever you may be

Oh sorry Trackball I wasn't referring to your Farenheit 360 project specifically. I didn't even bother to read it. I was referring to YOU, your typical M.O., and your past history.
Yes, I was flaming you. I just don't care to read 10 pages of your spew.

So, basically you're admitting that you're just biased.
If we want to make this thing nicer, I can make a Fahrenheit 360: Lite. I can remove Chapter 5 and the moderator thing, but I feel that the anti Descent quotes should stay. There is a bias against these games and it shouldn't be kept a secret.

Yep. Which means it's time to ignore him.

Then
take my quotes out.
If you want to focus on the negative, don't make me a part of it.
Focusing on the anti-Descent bias you've found on forums populated by clueless 14-year-olds who never played DOOM until #3 came out simply destroys the project. We don't want to waste our time on quotes from people who are intentionally hostile to Descent, and we especially don't want to see neutral people turned off by the fact that you can't avoid focusing on that negativity.
Learn to ignore idiots, jerks, and trolls. Don't give them so much airtime (both in your document, and in your responses here.)

Yeah, listen to Lothar, He preachin' dah wisdom. I am definately being a trollish jerk. I'm attacking your track record, rather than this specific instance, and that's really not all that fair. It verges on the logical fallacy of attacking the person.
I am biased indeed, and highly skeptical of you and everything you stand for, AceTrackball. Your past willful ignorance has tainted you in my eyes. Given your contemptuous dismissal of the honest advice being given you here, nothing has visibly changed, as you have thus far rejected outright any chance for possible redemption.

What is the point of exposing it? (I ask that as an objective question) I'm pretty sure all the bias I've seen has been on a personal level.

Sorry Track, but your sections (chapters as you call them) are a little too short to be chapters.

I had the same thoughts. In the comparison to Half Life you completely ignored the finer points of a very well-written and executed game and knocked it simply because you couldnt move along the z-axis. Never mind the fact that Descent itself was just mindless killing and key hunting.
Multiplayer is a different story, of course, but again you ignore the strategy and skill needed in a game like CS or Team Fortress and knock it because... no z-axis.
The shooter genre has become WW2 shooters, modern tactical, and â??team based combatâ??. Battlefield 1942, Counterstrike Source, Day of Defeat, and Americaâ??s Army dominate gaming worldwide. The titles that stray from this team based formula are much less popular.
Then how do you explain the popularity of UT2004, Halo, and HL2DM? All of those have hugely popular non-team modes.
Also, it would help to drop the 15-year-old fanboy tone of it.
It should be known that the sole weapon of the Descent hater is evasive behavior. The same was true for the Half Life 2 thread. When asked to explain their comments or insults, there was not a single comeback. Not only was leaving rude and unappreciative, it was pitiful. Choosing to listen to bad songs like TOOLâ??s Prison Sex over Descent LAN play is simply unacceptable. Fact.
Unresponsive behavior is the most common resistance to the power of Descent.
And yeah, the Xbox bit doesnt need to be there. It has no relation to Descent. If you want to blame anyone, blame the game developers for dumbing down games for the consoles (e.g. Deus Ex: Invisible War).

Would that not go under:
-Immersive NPC Interaction
-Realistic Environments
Should I add something like "Expert Storytelling"?

While Halo may have a good amount of people playing the deathmatch, it seems like it was made primarily for team play.
Half Life 2 Deathmatch is no where near as popular as CS Source or *Insert WW2 shooter here*.
UT2004 was popular during the demo stages and throughout early launch, but the numbers have decreased substantially.
