I don't know how I'm being hypocritical. I don't follow a religion, and turn and bash the others. I don't like any of them.

My underlying theme is pretty basic. I think most people are good at heart and do not really need religion. Let's boot it for awhile and see how we do :)

I'm willing to guarantee that you won't feel any different tomorrow or for the rest of your life. BTW, if there is a God, he was not in attendance this morning on the 6:54 train to Chicago. Damn freight train ahead of us messed up the tracks, anyone know what it's like to sit in a train with no smoking, drinking, no ipod, being late to an important meeting?? Makes me mad...if I would have prayed, the tracks would have miraculously been fixed faster no?

I'm not going to debate if God was absent on your train ride that morning or not. But did you ever look at the otherside? maybe he was there and caused the frieght train to "mess up the tracks" instead of the passenger train where is could have derailed and cost lives, seems your cup is always half empty Zurich

Interesting way to put it Cuda, but how many things are explained by saying "it's God's way"...I just dont' get it...I really don't. Seems to me as if God is merely an excuse for that which we don't understand or can't readily explain. People have a hard time fathoming a minuscule existence.

Ya, I was thumbing through the channels the other day and came across a story on TBN. This guy was working construction, and the ground collapsed, and he was trapped in a small air pocket for a few days before they could rescue him. After he was rescued he said that the air pocket was â??proof that god performs miracles every dayâ?

Pat Robertson is a Known Idiot (TM).

EDIT: one of my pastors said to me "Pat Robertson should shut up." Everyone in the room nodded in agreement, including 2 other pastors. We also agreed that it's sad there are still some people who listen to him.

So, yeah... Pat Robertson does not represent us.

Howard Tayler of Schlock Mercenary wrote:That's where Robertson gets it wrong. He's telling these people NOT to turn to God, when God wants exactly the OPPOSITE. God wants people to turn to him. These lives we lead are filled with a certain measure of anguish, grief, and misery. If we humble ourselves and turn to God, we can find peace in our trials, and we will ultimately be more loving, more caring, and more godlike when we are called upon to help others through THEIR trials. Robertson has missed this entirely. Sure, sometimes God's Mouthpiece is called upon to warn of calamity, but the warning usually goes "repent, or you will suffer [insert specific suffering here]." Jonah did this in Ninevah (after chickening out and spending some time being humbled himself), and the people in Ninevah repented, and were spared.

Robertson is just playing the vengeance bit, and has missed out entirely. Whether or not God wants us to vote for Intelligent Design in our schools, I seriously doubt he's going to inflict calamity on a town over it, much less NOT BE THERE FOR THEM if they turn to him in prayer. That's not the way He works.

If Pat Robertson ever had license to speak for God, I'm confident that it has now been revoked.

No, he's pretty much been that way all along.

I tell you guys what. I won't blame the Athiest for the vile nonsense that came out of Stalins mouth, if you won't blame the Christians for the thrice cursed effluent that Mr. Robertson vomits from his pulpit.

Is this a superlative unbeliever? Smile
Ha! Yes, lets correct that to Athiests, plural. :)
