just exactly how much does Ireland donate to charity??? the US donates almost 13 billion ever year along with another 4 billion (25%of the total funding) to fund the world charity Joke called the UN so that 17 Billion. not to mention the BILLIONS donated by private charity organizations in this country, the US is the largest Private donator in the world but apparently you guys still want more of our money. What is the total of monetary and material aid that flows out of the U.S. and how does that compare to the countries that made your good-country-ness list?
I know for a fact that just taking the ammount we donate to the World Food Program wouldn't necessarily reflect the level of giving we maintain. Ever hear of the Marshall plan?
2: Racism. Yes, blatant racism has been banned, but black people still have considerably lower incomes on average. Heck, the fact that the phrase "black culture" is so commonplace fairly shows that point. And that's only for black people; when you add in foreigners, things get really hairy.
Any thought on the actual cause and effect behind your statistic?
As of the 94 census: Blacks have twice the number per capita unemployed and 3 times the number living below the poverty level. I doubt you'll ever find the Help Wanted section of any paper in America without a long list of jobs available. In spite of any racism they might face the jobs are there to be had, if you want to make money the first step is to get a job!
Racism isn't the reason that "black culture", as you call it, breeds so many people who will live off the government tit instead of taking the hard road toward financial independance. A bunch of lazy bastards will drag down any demographics stats!

I know I started out at age 14 busing tables and washing dishes for minimum wage, worked at a lot of different low paying jobs and ultimately taught myself my current trade. I bought the books from the local community college sat on my couch and read them at night after work instead of wasting my life/potential/money on whatever else I could have been doing.
It paid off and I now own a thriving HVAC/R contracting business. Nobody gave it to me because I'm white, I went out and took it! Black people hired me to fix their A/C's, brown people hired me, Asians hired me, Caucasians hired me.... I got the work because I showed up with the ability and desire!

Ability and desire are not taught in the "black culture" and I doubt it's because the Klan is out there keeping the black man on the plantation. Racism has been reduced to a relatively minor inconvenience compared to a few decades ago yet the "black culture" hasn't responded to the opportunity because the left wing pimps have shackled them with welfare and victim status. When the going gets tough, the tough get going...the rest vote for liberals.
3: I am NOT going to go into more depth about the whole "riot against French products because their country backed out of the war" incident.
As if there really is any depth to delve into. Heh, every country has it's nationalistic pride showing once in a while. Any country on your good-country-ness list has expressed similar sentiment in their own way. Speaking of riots, been to any good football matches lately?
4: A very high rate of obesity. 'Nuff said.
Lol, what country are you in and is it skinny enough to make the good-country-ness list? Is it still 'good-ness' to ridicule obese people or are you now off the list?
5: Wars, wars, wars, wars, wars...
Yea like we invented it or even started most of them! Tell me which ones should we have stayed out of. My list starts and stops with VietNam.

Because time and time again, threads are started on topics which consist of debating how the people in power should deal with something.
Then start a thread on the topic of your choice instead of hi-jacking other peoples topics. With all the hi-jacking you do it only tells me your nothing more than a drama queen who wants attention. If you want a discussion on this topic THEN START THE TOPIC!!

Umm... okay, where did the deduction that I have some sort of a list come from?
Oh, also, forgot to mention: the biggest reason that it all bothers me so much is because you're seen as having the big superior rolemodel of the world, and that reputation didn't come about by accident.

Edit: Whoops, completely forgot about education. Frankly, it's atrocious.

That's still not supposed to happen though.

But on a nationwide scale? I mean, such organised rioting can never be a good thing. And it wasn't, either. I haven't heard of any other first-world country doing that...
Will Robinson wrote:Speaking of riots, been to any good football matches lately?
Yes. I sometimes work at, I believe, the third biggest sports ground in my country. The only actual football riot I've ever heard of was something regarding an Ireland vs England match, and I can't remember which side's supporters were rioting.

Obesity is like smoking, it's just not good for your health.

Just about every war since WW2 is what I say. Especially the Cold War; aside from that America could've stopped the Cold War easily, it even rejected a peace treaty when offered!
Also, should've specified: the points I made aren't of equal value, with the wars being the biggest thing.

Yeeeah, about that; all the other first-world countries for that matter, is generally okay with Islam, the USA is usually the one that goes up in arms about them. Mainly because it still is a case of that they barely do cause any trouble.
Will Robinson wrote:You can't even publish a satirical cartoon in Europe with a picture of Muhammad on it without one of your cults going into jihad mode!!
Mmmmno, the reports I heard about that mostly came from America. My country certainly didn't have any riots on the matter.

Ireland has, in the last two decades, underwent a huge economic boom bringing it from one of the poorest countries in the EU to one of the wealthiest.

No continent. I just made it up because I couldn't think of a proper word for it. Hence why I started it with 'umm...' and ended with a question mark.

And the democratic nominee for President of the United States is.....

I remember a few years back, iirc, it was a senator from Vermont, he proclaimed that his state has little to no racism. The media had a good time whipping him over this, since his state was about 95% white. What percent of your population is Black, asian, hispanic?

America is the only country to seriously step-up to the plate and try and make this whole multiculturalism thing work.....feel free to continue booing from the bleachers.

Canada
Black 783,795 2.6%
Latin 304,245 1.0%

U.S.
Black or African American 12.2% or 37.1 million
Hispanic or Latino of any race: 14.8% 44.3 million

an impressive bunt!

So are you implying that Canada has more immigrants than the US??. because at last count there was an estimated 12 Million Illegal immigrants in the US alone and 100 million minorties. that is over 3 times Canada's TOTAL population of 33 million per your 2006 census.

I think you do the topic an injustice to sum Hitler's actions up in that way. Hitler saw the Jews as an inferior people, polluting the evolutionary pool and thus slowing humanity's progress. This is why he was also involved in the quiet extermination of the diseased and otherwise infirm of his own people. It's wasn't just a matter of religious stereo-typing.

The same kind of thinking found expression in the USA, in the form of the Eugenics movement, and Planned Parenthood. Different results, same basic philosophy. I heard about this stuff long before Ben Stein's recent movie, which also touches on it.

Per Wiki 13.4% so I guess not :)
Currently Canada is known as a country with a broad immigration policy which is reflected in Canada's ethnic diversity. According to the 2001 census by Statistics Canada, Canada has 34 ethnic groups with at least one hundred thousand members each, of which 10 have over 1,000,000 people and numerous others represented in smaller amounts. 13.4% of the population belonged to visible minorities: most numerous among these are Chinese (3.5% of the population), South Asian (3.1%), Black (2.2%), and Filipino (1.0%).

What gets me is why the MOST xenophobic, racist, uneducated and almost exclusively white people in the Appalachia region of the U.S. always seem to muster enough votes and the clout to elect our Presidents. The press keeps calling these people\" the white working class\", which overwhelmingly voted for Clinton. They are a somewhat geographically isolated group of people and are not representative of other white blue collar workers in the U.S. that live in the Midwest, Upper Northeast and West. The white working class people that live within these more racially diverse regions tend to be a more educated and racially tolerant group and they voted overwhelmingly for Obama.

Well, the press seems to be focusing in on this area the country and it might be even more important now that Obama is the Democratic nominee. This area of the country is very racist and almost exclusively white.
