A lot of work been done since then.
Forums, IRC etc now working on a
new website
Deaths, you now die, but do not warp back to start yet.
Few enemy turrets (Missile and Laser)
New Level in development. Outdoor Canyon. Instead of the typical "roof" to the sky, I will have an enemy cruiser that shoots you down if you go too high....
Other small changes, things like:
Numerical Readouts on the energy and shield (which is fixed by the way)
And more. I should update the game version exe soon.

Ouch.
I didn't know that, so thanks for alerting me to it.
It is also the name of a virus!!!
Few things:
1) Defender is an ancient arcade game, only alive because of flash conversion to online play.
2) Defender will probably not be the final name of this game project. It was just the only thing I could think of when I put it on the web!

You're fine.
An abandoned trade name is not protected. A trade name that is generic is not protected. A trade name that is used but does not cause confusion or conversion is not an infringement since the similarity of anything called Defender isn't like this product. You're also not making a profit off the trade name and probably own no assets, so suing you will just cause you to file for bankruptcy, if you're not a minor; you're not "material".
There's also a question of jurisdiction. This can include conflicting laws between countries.
No no no. Unless you're asked to change the name by the holder of the trade name Defender, don't worry about it.

Wouldn't surprise me actually.
The most popular game for my friends at the moment is "curveball" like 3D pong, and "Tetris"
It seems that the old arcade games are making a comeback on the web!

Sorry but I'm gonna bump this thread, but its out of excitement:
First, it is good to see a small indie 6DOF around. Good work sdfgeoff.
I'd like to test the latest available version, if it is available. I've downloaded one copy, from the link found at the 1st post of this thread.
However, there seems to be a problem-when I start the game, it only shows a Pyro-GX with a gray background. Is there something I've missed?
Thanks and good work.

No problems, this is still being actively developed.
Head over to
defender-space.x10.mx and go to the forums. There under releases you can find a link from the source forge page.
But I suspect that you have the latest, it should be number 3? The spinny Pyro is the ship selection scene. Hit enter to start the actual game.
There have been quite a few changes recently, so expect another release soon (buying weapons...)
