I don't see them pushing the overall economy one way or the other. Actually, his overall path was to restrain the urge to over-regulate, and whether what actions were passed(by Congress)have a long-term positive effect is still to be seen.
I personally believe that bill had some stabilizing affect and helped to loosen the credit market.
I think what loosening you see is due to overall Fed policies of low interbank interest rates, and the low bond yields, which relate directly to profit margins on credit extended. I may be wrong, but.........
But in the end, Obama has done nothing extraordinary or anything any other president wouldn’t have done in regards to the economy, as you keep suggesting.
what he has done, to my mind, is not push measures to mess the economy up, as much as the more specific actions around the bottom of the crash abyss. Lots of folks wring their hands about his one major effort outside that, the ACA, but evidence has shown that has had a positive effect on hiring, due to enabling the retirement of a lot of folks merely working to keep insurance. So, whether overt or passive in nature, I am quite pleased with the Obama trajectory for the nations economy. It could have been better had he had some bipartisan cooperation, but that's water under the bridge at this point. All I fear is some ideological nonsense, like isolationist policies or messing with the full faith and credit to make some oddball point, that could send the nation down like a lawn dart.
