Download it. It's fun. Buy it if you agree.

I'd recommend starting directly into the campaign ("new game") to get a feel for the game mechanics. It's got training wheels for the first little bit, which are actually pretty useful...

If you just want to fly around and blow stuff up, try "instant action" -- see how long it takes you to destroy a mining barge and its fighter escort.

If instant action isn't enough flight for you, take a shot at survival mode (10 minutes). Basically, you fly around blowing stuff up for 10 minutes, and pick up resources to upgrade your ship on the fly. You get to see some of the late-game weaponry and ships if you stay alive and upgrade quickly enough.

The verdict from me: Starscape rocks.

Yeah, last time this thread was posted I gave it a try. Pretty fun, but I got bored of it.

I tried it last year. Thought it was kinda tricky - and not my cup of tea.

it's great that a nice little INDEPENDANT game like this has become so popular.
i was particularly impressed by how impossible it was to crack.
it's not really my cup of "long term gaming" tea. but if you havn't tried it, go go try it, it's great :)

Games that try to take over your system in order to try to keep honest people honest are lame.

I assume you're talking about a different game, then, Tet. From what I understand, all Starscape does is uses your hardware info to generate a unique string it'll use to generate your unlock code (if you don't have the code, you can still play the demo.) It's much better than having to wait for the CD in the mail, but if you don't like it, you can buy the CD.

The only people that complain about uncrackable software are the people that want to steal it.

actually lothar i'm glad the crack didn't work. i downloaded it in a moment of weakness.
i'm all for subverting the big publishers by supporting the independants.

Besides, the game was worth the 25 bucks or whatever. Gave me a good few days of entertainment.
