Okay, I got tired of being a poser and picked up SFAM last night.

OH MY GOD. Can someone please write a play or a movie to this script? :o

I just want to make sure I have the story correct. Victoria was found dead with her true love. The Miracle was the supposed witness who tried to stop him from killing himself after shooting Victoria. After a few years Nicholas doesn't think the pieces fit, he goes to a hypnotherapist who helps him remember everything, and Nicholas figures out that Victoria and her true love were shot by the Mircale after Victoria tried to drop her affair with him, and the Senator's wife turns him in. Am I right? And what relationship does Nicholas have to Victoria (I've never heard Metropolis Pt. 1)

The way I understand it:

Nicholas is Victoria reincarnated. He has been living with dreams that he can't understand for quite some time. These dreams are glimpses of events from Victoria's life (and more importantly, her death).

The Miracle and the Sleeper are both in love with Victoria. She is torn between the two, but ends up deciding to leave the Miracle for the Sleeper. This of course, makes the Miracle extremely jealous. After a struggle with the Sleeper, the Miracle shoots him, then Victoria. He plants a suicide note on the Sleeper's body, to make it look like a murder-suicide. He claims to find the bodies, and ends up getting away with it.

While Nicholas is struggling to figure all of this out, he has been seeing a therapist of some sort. This is were it gets a little confusing... Although it's a stretch, I think the therapist is the Miracle reincarnated. Once he realizes that Nicholas figured out what happened to Victoria and the Sleeper, he follows Nicholas home, sneaks up on him... and that's where the story ends.

To my knowledge, Dream Theater has never officially released the details of the story, but a lot of it makes sense after watching Metropolis 2000: Scenes from New York. Undoubtedly one of the best live videos I've ever seen. I think Mike Portnoy produced it himself, too.

Fezzik is correct. Just to reiterate :), Nicholas is the reincarnation of Victoria. He's been having weird dreams about this girl, and goes to a hypnotherapist to find out what they mean. He learns that in a past life he was Victoria, and two brothers, Senator Edward baynes, the Miracle, and Julius Baynes, the Sleeper, were both in love with her. She was with the Miracle, but decided to leave him for the Sleeper.

Edward is very jealous, and sneaks up on them in a sequestered place, where they think they are alone. A struggle ensues, and Edward shoots both of them, writes a suicide note and plants it on Julian's body. he then tells police that he happened upon them, found them fighting, and Julian, who he says found out about Victoria didn't love him, shot her and himself.

Having discovered the truth, Nicholas is feeling good about himself and happy that he solved the mystery and uncovered the crime of Edward. However, the hypnotherapist is Edward reincarnated, and when Nicholas goes back to his house, the hypnoptherapist sneaks up on him and kills him.

The last part is open to interpretation, but I can't think of anything else that would explain why the hypnotherapist killed Nicholas, especially when uttering the same words that Edward said when killing Victoria.

By the way, DCrazy, I'm very very disappointed in you. You chastised me for putting Metallica's MoP album higher than SFaM on my top 3 list, yet yourself didn't even own the greated Dream Theater CD of all time? For shame! I hope you at least have Train of Thought! :)
