Hi,
I plan to create a single panel comic using peoples icons (adjusted a bit if they’re under copyright protection), after studying past comments on this site.
I’ll only add your screen name/ avatar character to my piece if given permission.
Post bellow if you’re interested or want to know more.

WTF? You're getting your content and your floppy disks confused man. What you mean is "copyright". Ever remember seeing the little "©" character preceding the word "copyright" before? o_O
(Okay, so maybe you've only seen it 27 million times.)
In other words "A right to copy" - or more accuractely, "no rights to copy" in the USA anyway....
Feel free to rip my icon, I already stole the content from Pixar anyway.

Isaac, just so you're clear on this: feel free to rip ANYTHING from ANYONE here!
The USA was built on a platform of flagrant copyright violation (worse than China is now BTW), and the copyright laws mean absolutely nothing to someone who is interested in doing what you plan to do. So just don't even worry about it.
Jebus, it's like you've been brain washed by the RIAA. These are the guys who describe \"copyright infringement\" as \"theft\", when by definition theft is an act which deprives the owner of the original goods. (Clearly no one at the RIAA knows much English.) There's no mention about \"loss of profits\" anywhere in there.

Darnit, now I have to derail the thread and probably get moderated for it.
If someone writes software for a living, or paints pictures, or writes books, or composes music, and you copy and use their work without paying for it (and without permission) it's theft. Plain and simple. how on earth can you define it as anything else under any ethical system?
Let's say someone moves furniture to earn money. You call them up and say you need to move across town. They move all of your furniture, it takes all day. At the end of the day, they come to you and present a bill. You laugh and say, "Ha! I'm not paying, and don't bother calling the cops cause it ain't theft unless I deprive you of goods!"
Theft is taking property that you don't own without permission and without paying for it. It doesn't matter if that property is material or intelectual. It's still theft. You are stealing their labor without compensation.
That is NOT to support the idiots at the RIAA or in the software world who think you should never be able to make a backup copy of something you paid for, or you should never be able to move your music or movie or whatever from one media format to another. Thats nonsense as well. But lets not try to pretend that taking something you didn't pay for isn't taking money away from people who worked hard to produce the product you just stole.

You can use mine.
Furthermore, STFU Mobi. Regardless of what Isaac could get away with, the fact is, he's demonstrated a level of courtesy -- something you lack -- in asking people before using the avatars they've chosen.
