I have finally found a Blu-Ray burner for sale, Pioneer's BDR-101A at TigerDirect.
So if you are one of those people who like to get the best thing right now, go
here and spend your $1000 while the rest of us wait a year or two for prices to drop to the $150 to $50 range.

HD-DVD has no future as a data archiving format. Blu-Ray has HD-DVD beat in capacity, and will most likely best the performance as the drives ramp up if it isn't faster from the start because of the higher density. If you are talking about data not movies, audio or anything else that requires DRM protection there is no contest between the two formats once the prices are level.
Blu-Ray as an optical format is by its very nature superior to HD-DVD, all HD-DVD can accomplish is delaying the inevitable. It might not have the same \"Blu-Ray\" name but eventually blue lasers are going to work their way into every new optical drive.
