For those of you who said that comparing the Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 to the Athlon FX-60 was like comparing a Ferrari to a jalopy because of the FX-60's lack of DDR2, check out this article:

http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/sh ... spx?i=2771

where the Core 2 Extreme X6800 sm0kes the Socket-AM2-based AMD Athlon FX-62.

It doesn't really matter who wins the performance crown anymore. What really matters is who wins the performance per watt crown. AMD will release their Energy-Efficient processors soon, so it remains to be seen if the Core 2 Extreme can compete.

K8L looms on the horizon, Q1 of 2007, quad core, co-processors, open platform, HT 3.0, itll squish those puny conroes :P

on a mosre serious note, a price war looms as well, pretty sure intel will win due to its size, however, corporations are still switching to AMD, even with conroe speced out the way it is.

and its ot performance per watt thats really important, its price to performance. =)

also, to burst a few bubbles, AMD still does better with high quality graphics enabled, in matter of fact, high quality seems to pain the conroe.

link

in the end, a t 300 dollar conroe vs a 1000 FX, i know what wins

[edit]also, anandtech isnt exactly a trusted source...ironically, nor is TH, both are heavily intel favored[/edit]
