I have Windows Vista Beta 2 installed. The problem is some websites are impossible to get to. For instance, I can get to AMD.com, but I can't get to their forums. I can get to Microsoft's frontpage, but I can't really go anywhere else on their website. Only about half of my bookmarks work. I couldn't even activate (which I eventually did by phone) and I can't update either Vista or Defender. I always get the same error codes: 80072EE2 and 0X80072EE2 respectively. I've tried with IE and Firefox. I have turned off the firewall since I do have a hardware firewall. My computer specs include an nForce 2 motherboard. Since those drivers are not Vista supported, the Ethernet for my motherboard does not work when I upgrade those drivers. I've already tried. The Ethernet drivers that come with Windows work better. I however used the other nForce 2 XP drivers for everything else. They fixed the no audio problem I did have. The problem with Windows nForce 2 Vista Ethernet drivers was that I got the same problem I have now. What is different now is that I'm using a Linksys wired ethernet card with Windows 2000 drivers that Windows Vista accepted. My Linksys wireless card wouldn't work. If you come up with any solutions, or are experiencing the same problem, please post.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have the security set to \"Do not allow user to do anything\".

That's your problem right there. What you are using is not guaranteed to work because its not out yet for at least a half a year.

Thats not a problem, its gone under extensive testing as it is, after the Public Betas, next up are release candidates. AP, did you download the ISO? or DVD?, im guessing download. its possible theres a bad packet or two in the iso you downloaded. try disabling the firewall, try adding a second nic card, not motherboard, see if that works, if the second NIC works, then id say its a fault of nVidias drivers

I did download, I did disable the firewall, and I am using a NIC wired card. I only have 1 NIC card available ATM.

The onboard NIC is one of the few bits of nForce2 hardware that is supported \"out of the box\" by the Vista beta. Of course, that doesn't mean the driver will work 100%. It wouldn't be the first time a built-in Windows driver has had issues.

One other thing, you don't connect to the net with a proxy server, in particular a proxy server that requires autentication, do you? When I had the beta installed I got similar codes with the Windows Update app (for those that haven't been following, WU is an \"application\" in Vista) presumably because it couldn't authenticate against the proxy here and was failing.

I think you have the DBB confused with "Microsuck Vista BETA 2 Technical Support".

If people dont Beta test it, then bugs dont get ironed out. since M$ cant possibly recreate every possible system configuration on the market, it releases a public beta. We are the testers, saying this doesnt work, heres why.

Im sorry if you expect a fully functional OS without any bugs with out beta testers, must be an idiot born every minute too

But I still question the sanity of asking VISTA Beta advice here. This ISN'T MS TechSupport.

I do have some advice though! Next time you feel the urge to Beta Test a Microsoft Operating System, just short circuit the whole procedure by doing the following:

1) Buy a claw hammer.
2) Sit comfortably at your PC desk.
3) Strike head with hammer.
4) Scream in agony.
5) Flop around a bit.
6) Had enough? No - go to #3.

There: much easier and quicker. Plus, we don't laugh at you. Much.

I had more issues with XP then I do have Vista Beta 2

The reason hes asking here, is becuase most of us are knowledgable people who wouldnt mind helping with his problems, the msdn forums are a quagmire of crap, most of a lot of n00bs asking n00bish questions and being told to go away. forums like this are much better for support, but theres always that guy who doesnt get it I guess

Maybe I was a little too subtle or perhaps you just didn't get it: There isn't really much of a distinction in terms of quality between a beta MS OS and what they ultimately end up releasing asking for help on the Vista beta is really no different to asking advice on XP, 2000, 98SE or any other "release" OS.

You are right. I do find that this forum, along with AMD Forums, is a great resource that I can rely on.
