monitor cutting off

Ok, so out of the blue, my monitor shuts off on me. I still here the sound from my game (was fraggin the hell outta some folks in Quake Teamfortress... yes, I'm very nostalgic lol). So it cuts off, I still hear the sound, and my computer is still running, etc... you get the idea. Well, of course, the first thing I did was turn off the monitor and turn it back on to see if it would recycle back to the \"ON\" state... it didn't. I had to shut down my computer (very interesting that we can close a game, then shut down Windows without even seeing the screen, we need lives LOL).

Anyone ever have this happen? The monitor is a 17\" KDS X Flat (flatscreen). Did my video card have a brain fart or is my monitor about to eat the dust? (Please tell me it's the monitor... dam I don't want to have to replace this card). By the way, I have an ATI Radeon X1300 - 512MB

Thanks in advance for any input :)

If the video card had gone out, the system should have crashed with it. Was there a lose cable somewhere? What did the power light on the monitor show?

Still may be the card -- you got another comp you could hook the monitor up to ? Or another monitor to hook on your comp ?
