Music Makes a Trailer

In a sense, I am a trailer nut. I love good trailers. I am much more likely to go to a movie which has a trailer with better music than one with crappy music.

For example, take the difference between the Fellowship of the Ring teaser verse the actual trailer. The trailer has a much higher quality music track (IMHO) and so is much more exciting to watch (no the teaser is not that bad, but the trailer is freakin amazing in comparison).

Terminator 3 shows a big difference between it's first trailer and the domestic trailer.

As mentioned before, 300 has an amazing trailer. Partly because of the visuals but also because of the killer NIN track and the hits in the song lining up with action in the video.

Gears of War is clever example of music put to good use.

The Exorcist Begins may not have been a great movie (I haven't seen it yet), but the international trailer is pretty slick in presentation because of its audio. I think it's better to only listen to this one then actually watch it.

Spiderman 2 has a good trailer, but I think the original Spiderman trailer suprasses it. (Both I believe are the debut of an Immediate Music track).

Sin City? Yes.

The Matrix? Yup.

42

I think the Matrix Revolutions teaser is better than the trailer. Even though the trailer has better visual effects, the music makes the teaser more gripping.

I thought the Halo 2 teaser and Freespace 2 trailer rocked. Freespace 2 is notable because of the dialog at the beginning, it's very well written I think.

Warcraft III trailer; good use of narrator and music.

Good old nostalgia.

The Incredibles trailer benefits from some rockin' Propellerheads.

Equilibrium trailer. Good original music and \"trailer\" music.

Anyone else have any awesome ones you want to point out?

I don't lik etrailers because they use all the good points in the movie and ruin the surprises. (Usually)

I liked the teaser and trailer for Star Wars Ep3. Mainly the music. Especially the trailer music where it gives you goosebumps (its the same music thats played in Ep6 when Luke gets shocked).

Will think of some more good ones after class.

to be honest i would love to show some of the previews (change the release dates) to people back in the 60's or 70's and just freak the crap out of all of them!

That'd be freakin' awesome!

Us: \"Oooo...look what George Lucas did to Star Wars!!\"
Them: \"Oh my God, the horror! The horror...\"

It's probably just a sign of the times, but the original Star Wars trailers (example) have such corny voice over dialog.

My two favorite trailers ever were for Spinal Tap and Delicatessen. Spinal Tap's had no actual footage from the movie. Delicatessen's not only had footage from the movie, it consisted entirely of a single scene from the movie, exactly as it occurs in the movie. I don't remember much about the music for either one.

While on the subject of trailers. This might have just been a promotional thing for Computer City but I remember seeing a trailer for Descent II: The Infinite Abyss. Does any one know where I might find it again?
