Pink sky at night: shepherds delight
Pink sky in the morning: shepherds warning.
Actually, I've never seen a pink sky while it's snowing - and I lived in NZ's premier ski resort for 12 years. Must look pretty.

Ah, that pink or red sky you see is but only due to smog. Tho, it might have been a good indicator before the industrial era.
