C2D Motherboard?

Well, I'm on the last piece of the puzzle at this point. Mind you, I choose to stay away from being a fan-boy of either Athlon or Intel. My reason, is because I'm out for performance over brand name. Every company has it's own evils to stay away from though. I do like Athlon over Intel, but I'm going to fly with Intel for now, simply because it is a little faster and I can upgrade to quad core in a year or so around the time I build my new rig and have a secondary rig that is reasonably up-to-date.

So, what would you all recommend for C2D? I need something also compatible with C2D Extreme so that I can later run the quad core on it.

I've read up on ASUS and their board scares me. Apparently the board supports C2D but their BIOS doesn't so you either have to use an old Pentium (that I don't have) and flash it or send it back to ASUS. Also, I'm kind of in a hurry at this point. I doubt my PC will last beyond two weeks if lifetime if I'm lucky at this point. It is hitting a very critical point. :(

most have the bios date on the board themselves, so you can check that when you go to the store and buy.

DFI makes some nice boards.

I buy Mobo's from Newegg. I have to buy everything on-line since there isn't anywhere locally that sells them. Well, there are, but they buy from Newegg too, unless it's Walmart. ;)
