10gig ethernet is nothing new. We had a whole bunch of 10gig linecard when I co-op'ed with Cisco this past year.

Wow cool, I could run 26,600 6-man D3 servers at once on such a network.

Yeah Iceman, but you'd need 5,320 computers to run that many instances of D3.
And the shame is, there's only 53 active D3 players to fill those servers.

hehe, thats nothing compared to the ★■◆● I saw in the local MCI center that I got to tour a week or two ago. The only twisted-pair copper in that place was just for internal phones only. Everything else is fiber.
Matter of fact, they've come up with a way to send signals down a fiber just over
600 miles before they need to boost the signal. However, thats one-way traffic so they'd have to lay down two lines for it to work.
And DAMN! The sheer redundancy in that building....its enough to even make the geekiest guy cum in envy! I could go on a cable cutting spree and traffic would still get through unhindered.
