Possible RAM issues down the road?

Here is the mobo I went with:

This is the RAM I went with:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820145034

What concerns me is this note on the Mobo specs:

\"Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets.\"

The timing on my memory is: 4-4-4-12
The voltage is: 2.1V

However, from what I understand, DDR 800 requires 2.1V's to work correctly.

The problem is: Does this board run the RAM at 1.8V?

You would likely have a hard time finding a motherboard on newegg that does not support variable RAM voltages. That board is no exception, it can boost the RAM voltage if required, though you may have to do it manually in BIOS. I have the same memory in my Intel 975X based Abit AW9D-MAX motherboard, it defaults to 1.8v which was stable at the SPD timings of 5-5-5-15. I bumped it up to the rated 2.1v (My board can go as high as 2.65v). I set it to 4-4-4-12 timings @ 408 MHz and it works perfectly fine. You should have nothing to worry about.

RAM should work. The 2.1V are for max speed, SPD values are tweaked for 1.8V operation.

Hey thanks. I'll see if I can get the BIOS updated. I think it defaults this to 1.8V as well. I can't figure out how to change the Bios settings. Hopefully the new Bios will allow me to fix this.

It's a great little system so far though.
