You can run XP on a P3 800. If it's lagging behind, I can give you some preformance tweaks to increase it's speed in refreshing your desktop and menu's etc.

I run windows server 2003 on a p3 750 with 512mb ram. No problems whatsoever, runs better than XP as a matter of fact. (2003 uses less ram than xp)
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on disk somewhere.

XP mainly likes RAM. It can run on a pretty old school proc.

512 bare minimum, 1GB strongly recomended for Home/Professional.

Hell, I've personally seen XP SP2 run on a classic Athlon 600 with a whopping 56MB of RAM. It ran slower than molasses in dead winter, but it ran.

Haha MD, I have seen XP running on a P2-233 MHz with 64 MB of RAM, that is what I call slow. You would be surprised the dinosaurs that XP can still run on. As long as there is 64 MB of RAM you can install XP on pretty much anything.

I have done exactly that once, but with 128 mb. It was still slow. I dont reccomend it.

Well, i'm pretty sure you can use XP on the computer you have, and if you can expand the RAM as you said, even better.

I've ran my first XP Pro installation over a 98SE in a P3 866MHz with 128MB Ram.

Certainly, it's slow, but with some tweaks about Services,Resgistry,Visuals, etc... you can speed it up a little (and with RAM, much more)
