Setting up FTP?

So, what would you recommend for setting up an FTP server? I would like to set up my computer at home as an FTP server that I can access files from at work. That way, if things are slow, I can continue to plug away at some of my modeling/texturing projects in any free time I may have.
I tried a program called SmartFTP, but it looks as though I need to have some kind of a web host for it. I would like to just set my PC up to allow me to access a specific folder over the net that is password protected.

ServU FTP is an excellent choice. It has many options, but is easy enough to set up a very simple and effective FTP site for yourself. We use it professionally on all of our servers here at work.

Serv-U isn't free. Filezilla is and it's a simple to setup as anything.

I would suggest FileZilla. It is completely free and available at SourceForge.net.

x2 FileZilla
It's easy to set up, extremely configurable, and just runs as a process in the background when you aren't using the admin interface.

I would recommend setting up a VPN tunnel between your work and your house.
VPN is much more secure than FTP, and the traffic can be compressed.

x2 on the VPN. One free VPN software I know of is Hamachi. I don't know where to get it, but Google is your friend.

XP Pro comes with its own Server and Client software.

Or at least go with sftp, since unencrypted ftp is icky for personal information and with passwords.

Never use IIS if you can help it.

With as many attacks as XP gets, that would not be prudent.
