I'm getting this error when launching Media Center in XP MCE2005. It will crash and then not load. I have not had any luck fixing it. Has anyone else seen this or know a fix?

Thank you!

Thanks for the reply, but that fix is for version 2002 and the Service Pack upgrade is supposed to fix it. I have SP2 already. Also the problem is when I launch MC, not when recording or flipping channels.

:(

That doesn't mean the Service Pack actually fixed it. It also doesn't mean something else hasn't replaced the files related to this with non-servicepack files.

Won't hurt to apply the fix. Can only help.

I also have version 2005 of MCE not 2002.

You're not the only one having this problem.

Yes, that was my first resource when I searched Google for a fix. The link provided on that page links to a "Page not found" error on MS's site. I searched for KB908250 on MS's site and found nothing.

I also tried the command line instructions with no avail. That's when I posted here.

Edit, just tried a search of Google and turned up the correct page for that KB. Duh me. Nice to know Google's search engine knows MS's site better than it's own...

Removed the Update rollup 2 for MCE and the one other MCE update mentioned in the KB article (reinstalling did nothing) and MCE now fires up and works again.

Sweet!
