Between these two boards what one would you choose and why?

ASUS

I chose ASUS. Because it allows me to make cheap jokes about what's in your conputer!

I'd choose the ASUS board between those two (even though 4 of the 5 PCs in my house are on abit boards). Simple reason: the ASUS board is an Intel 965 chipset, the Abit board is a Radeon Xpress 1250 chipset.
