These settings would be monitor color fine tuning, ftp connection settings, brightness control (which isn't affected by any settings in the color fine tuner), but everything else is fine. Many reformats have taken place on this machine (about once every 2 months), but i normally do that when it starts running slow.

Color profiles in the monitors is generally quite broken in Windows, I'm not sure if it ever worked properly. Better to use the monitor itself to adjust the colors/brightness.
FTP connection settings in what? Internet Explorer or something else? I would suggest that you do not use IE or Windows Explorer for FTP even though they do support it, use a full featured FTP client (there are several listed in the free software thread that will work wonders compared to what comes with windows).
The bigger question is why is your computer slowing down after only two months to the point of requiring another format? When properly maintained a Windows XP install should be fine even after a year or two. Do you have small children or other people who aren't into PCs as much installing software/games/surfing any and all Internet pages/etc or something causing these slow downs?

Yeah, so what exactly is slowing it down? Give us a list of the running processes when it is running slow. Just watching videos shouldn't slow down a PC unless you are getting REALLY crazy with the codec packs (CCCP should be able to handle almost anything once you add in real alternative and quicktime alternative). Are you not keeping your computer up to date on windowsupdate or something? Do you also keep your drivers up to date?Isaac wrote:movies, porn and anime.
Come to think of it, reinstalling every 2 months pretty much implies you are using a pirated copy since there is no way you could keep on reactivating a genuine copy that often. Next time you format, rebuild your windows XP CD before hand so it installs SP2 and all the updates that are available on http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/ (use the RVM integrator to automate installing the update pack onto the install folder and then generate an ISO from there). At the very least that will greatly accelerate the install/update process. You could even use nLite to build a fully unattended install so you can just stick the disk in and it will do everything automatically. Or better yet, get a copy of Ghost and image a fresh+updated install, then you can just ghost over it and have a format/reinstall done in 15 minutes.
