What is your preference regarding alcohol?

Germans aren't allowed to answer because they don't know what alcohol means....

Prefer smoking over drinking. No hang overs, don't get sick and head doesn't spin.

Anything in moderation isn't that harmful. All I'm saying is I prefer to smoke over drinking. Also, drinking makes people rowdy and obnoxious.

I don't drink. At all.

I have died 17 times from dehydration...

Smoking does that too.

SoCo and OJ is a nice combo. There's some cherry vodka out now that goes real well with lemonade.

Alcohol is fine for cleaning wounds, sterilizing some things, and as a mild cleaning agent.

I have no other use for it.

Depending on what kind of evening it is, I can go for some sauvignon blanc or some Bacardi Orange + Coke (or maybe no Coke).

Umm ...depends upon the mood. Usually when I drink it's one beer, typically after a hard day - and I'm fussy about my beer so it's usually from a micro-brewery.

I live in Perth, Western Australia which is four hours drive north from Margaret River - one of the world's finest wine-growing regions (world-class surfing too!) so naturally I like the occasinal glass of wine (either unwooded chardonnay or Shiraz/Cab sav).

And If I'm feeling like something a bit more exotic, I might have a \"Bullet\" - a cocktail of my own invention: 30ml Sambucca or Galliano mixed with 250ml chocolate milk... with a small scoop of choc-mint icecream thrown in on a hot summer's day. Yum! :P

i drink socially or binge. So i guess my alcohol of choice is simply Ethanol . I use it solely for it's effects, or to join in with friends.

I drink Champaigne on New Years, other than that I would rather drink some Diet Pepsi. Besides that, kinda illegal for 14 year olds to drink.

I am a drinker sometimes. Some months it'll be either a couple glasses of margaritas a week or a couple of wine coolers a week... or maybe a couple bottles of beer a week. Sometimes it'll be a whole month before I drink again... it usually depends on who I am socializing with and where we're going that night
I've only gotten completely trashed twice in my life and I'm sure I'll be completely trashed when I turn 21 in a couple weeks 8).
So far, my preferred choice of drink is a margarita. I'm not a big fan of beer yet for some reason, it's starting to become more... \"tasty\" if tht's how you put it. Since the first time I tried beer and hated it, I've gotten to be a bit used to it :P

Y'know... it's a shame that some people treat alcohol as a sin. :P

It's funny how Southern Comfort is the new hip drink. When I was in high school (early 80's) it was considered a redneck drink for those too stupid to know better.

I guess marketing has done it's job again.

I prefer either beer or vodka, though never on the same night.

I shifted from vodka to SoCo in '93, long before any commercials came out. It's either SoCo and OJ, or Rum and OJ. Both are great.

I'm a social drinker, not a casual one. I'll have a beer if I'm out to dinner or with friends, but I'm never like, "Whoh, hard day at work. Gotta crack open a cold one!" I prefer dark beers, and when I order beer, I try to pick one I haven't tried yet. I've also been fortunate to travel to Germany and sample some truly good stuff, including a Pilsner. Miller Lite? Not even close. More like carbonated soap.
Kiran wrote:Y'know... it's a shame that some people treat alcohol as a sin.
I know. After all, didn't Jesus drink?

And what's with people who only feel like smoking when they're drunk?

Well, first of all, Drinking is not the same as being Drunk.
I drink sometimes and i've never been drunk nor obnoxious.
(i don't drink so much, but i do generally in holidays or in familiar parties)

So, your statement is right ONLY if you talk about Drunk people (wich as you said, is obnoxious ppl).

Don't confuss one thing with the other. In fact, Drinking is a LOT (with moderation) better than smoking. e.g. Wine have healthy properties and vitamins if you don't drink too much, while smoking is just a breathe of venom to your entire body (and the bodies of the persons around you that are forced to breath your smoke), not only your lungs, Even with moderation  .

And as Sedwick says, Jesus drank wine, so i don't see why is that bad (unless CDN_Merlin thinks he was an obnoxious person)

However, i'm not bashing CDN_Merlin for his smoking (i did ever smoke a bit in the past, only about 5 or 6 cigarretes in my life and i like it :) ) but for his statement.

Anyway, i drink wine (red, white and pink), beer and my favorite of all times: Cognac (Cordon Bleu).

Also, a red wine glass accompanied with cheesse and bread is a great snack

:)

PS. An aunt of mine died with a lung disease due to the smoking of her husband (she didn't even smoke personally, but she breathed her husband's smoke) :(

Just remember I don't believe in Jesus so drinking to me is not a sin neither is smoking.

But you are correct, being drunk is obnoxious. If I ever smoked to much, then I'd usually passed out.

Mountain Dew went through the same metamorphosis. Interesting, isn't it.

I was rat-arsed when i posted this topic i think, 'cause i thought i posted it on dotcom...and still it's a little vague. lol

The German comment? I don't know, i had a blast in Hamburg, Berlin... and a little place called Lubeck when i was in my youth. Maybe i was thinking of Diedle, and it all came out.

Anyway, mine's a single malt, no ice. Or Boddington's bitter.

My wife and I don't really drink.

Not because we think it's a sin, mostly it's because of family culture. Also, for me it's because I know that if I drank alcohol the same way I drink other liquids (I love a certain kind of strawberry lemonade, for example), I'd be in trouble.

That said, I love the flavor of some of the Jack Daniels cooking/grilling products, and I really enjoy certain wine-based sauces.

I'm a big fan of Sam Adams as far as beer goes. Corona too (although most people like to make fun of it). As far as harder liqour i've grown to be a fan of tropical/fruit flavored rums/vodkas. Mostly from drinking with my girlfriend (and the two before her). Helps I already have a sweet tooth. Oh, and I hate bitter liqours. I don't feel like a \"man\" because i can drink gasoline. Gimme something that tastes good and some cute girls to enjoy it with. :D
