Custom Menu-bg does'nt work & other folder-related-probl

Hi!,

i'm new here and my english ist not ver good, so sorry for it ;)

I figured out, that there is a problem with the subfolder-system.(Added this to bug-tracker alredy)

Subfolder using is optional, like wrote in Installation-guide.

But, if you are using standard descent2 folder for placing data and only unpack d2x-xl-archive in your d2-folder, many of the features does notwork!

1. Custom-Menu background does not apear.
2. Smoke-Trails do not work.
3. dxl.ini will not be read proper (menu-Style can not be changed, etc.)

So, if you let your d2-data in your d2-folder you have to do these steps, if you want all things working:

a) move dxl.ini from \"..\\config\" to \"descent2\"-folder
b) move \"d2x-xl.hog\" from \"..\\data\\ to \"descent2\"-folder

Hope you can fix this folder-read-system in the next version.

P.S.

Messing up \"Smoke-Trail menu\"-bug is still here, if using old-menu style. I
will make screenshot if can reproduce it again.

Thx :D

Unfortunately Diedel closed this bugreport with this comment:

Code: Select all

Ok, it's not optional then. Period.

Don't think it's a great idea to ignoring bugs instead of fixing them.

I like this game (playing it since over 10 years), was nice supprised about this super Project.

But now i'm disappointed about Diedel's reaction.
He did/do very good work with it.

Update:
Diedl let me help him to make dx2-xl even better :D
We are working together now. ;)
My part is to make/convert textures to to high-res version. There are many still missing.

I'm also workig on missing 3d-models of weapons und power-ups, which is really peace of Horror, cause the descent model formats are not very good supported.

Screens will be following. ;)
