Okay, I ordered this new computer from cyberpowerpc.com with 2 756mb Nvidia cards working together to run games smoother. (its also dual core I believe) Thing is, each video card has two connection slots at the back and my monitor has only one connector.....so.....how exactly is this going to work? Or do I only need to connect my monitor to any of the four video card connections and both cards will work through that? Or could I possibly connect up to four devices to my video cards? I'm confused as to how this would work.

you need to plug your monitor into the connector on video card #1. this is the card on top (for a tower) or the card on the left (for a desktop)

Those are DVI connectors too

You will need analog converters(should come with PC)

but I would recommend you get an LCD that has DVI and Analog outputs

so, I'm getting conflicting answers. (either that or I simply still don't understand)

Ace says that it should all work fine by just connecting in the monitor to the first, top left slot of the 'main' card.

Bub says that you need converters (which does come with it, since the monitor can plug in normally it seems) to plug it in.
So what are the other three outputs from the cards used for?

Dark, both answers are correct. Bub added that newer video cards use different monitor connecters. So if your monitor uses the blue looking plug and your new system comes with the white (DVI) type connectors you just need to purchase a VGA to DVI adapter (if the system does not come with them.)

The 3 extra connectors are nothing to worry about. The 2 cards can function seperatly as standalone cards if they were placed in different computers. And depending on the card, thay can also power more than one display at the same time.

Ah, so even though my monitor is connecting to one of the cards, both cards are still working together to display an image on the screen. This is cool, thanks! Just wanted to be sure I was getting the most out of both.

well your partially correct to that. if you have a TOWER case then you will be connecting to the top card. if you have a flat "DESKTOP" case, then you will be connecting to the left hand card. either way, you got it right. and yeah it would have helped if you told us which connectors you have ( VGA or DVI )


speaking of both cards, you did install the SLI Bridge between the two cards right? the SLI Bridge is this:

Yup. kinda like the old 3dfx Monster cards.

no you dont have to, if you ordered the PC that way then yeah they did it for you. my fault i thought you were building this pc.
