Hope springs...

Hopefully a reformation can take place within islam as it has with christianity:
Religious privacy
Religion is the private matter of every individual. Any person should be able to freely practice any religion as long as the practice does not interfere with the local laws, and no person must be forced to practice any religion. Just as people are created equal, there is no one religion that is superior to another. Any set of beliefs that is spread by force is fundamentally immoral; it is no longer a religion, but a political ideology.

Equality
Islam is one of the many of the world's religions. There will be no Peace and Harmony in the World if Muslims and non-Muslims do not have equal rights. Islamic supremacy doctrine is just as repulsive as Aryan supremacy doctrine. History clearly shows what happens to the society whose members consider themselves above other peoples. All moderate Muslims must repudiate the mere notion of Islamic supremacy.

Sharia
Sharia Law must be abolished, because it is incompatible with norms of modern society.

Problem with this is most of our (North America) laws are based on the bible. So in essence, our laws are faulty.

People are faulty. Laws are made by people. For the most part, our laws are pretty good. It's the judges and lawers that are twisting them to meet their needs. And I wager that most don't give a hoot about the Bible.

*sigh*

That wasn't my point. Seems you do just as well playing the same card.

My point is that religion is a racket and a scam.
Whether anyone truly cares or is a 'True Christian' or is a part of other 'false religions' or not is irrelevant when all a politician has to do is play the religion card and *BAM* millions of idiots are streaming outof the churches to vote.

Since we are fighting wars and spreading Christianity. We're pretty ★■◆●ing hypocritical if we complain about notions of Islamic Supremacy.
Islamic Supremacy vs Christian Supremacy. zomg who will win

Sharia Law must be abolished, because it is incompatible with norms of modern society.
A LOUSY reason. Not a chance this will go over with conservative Muslims.

They should want Sharia Law changed because it's wrong, or because it's wrong to enforce it on others. Any religious person who is willing to change their rules because they don't fit the \"norms of modern society\" wouldn't have been much of a threat at enforcing the original rules to begin with.

Their statements on Religious Privacy and Equality were much better.

What he should have said there was \"Any person should be able to freely practice any religion as long as the practice does not interfere with other people,\"
Mainly because believing that you need to force your beliefs on others does not interfere with local laws.
Moreso, what if a local law prohibits a separate religion?

Of course, the problem is that both of those sentences are not believed to be right for a lot of people. They're not universal laws or anything, they're only beliefs by people on our side.
Heck, even forcing other people follow that code is forcing others into your beliefs! So doing anything about it is just downright hypocritical.

True, better phrasing that.

Ha! Gotta enforce the rules on "don't harm other people" or you can't have a society at all.

The goal should be to enforce the FEWEST rules possible. And "Don't harm other people" is one rule that we can accept as an axiom.

Some people need to be harmed. (Most New Jersey drivers, for example :))

I believe in the beneficial qualities to the pain-learn process.

All religion really boils down to is getting in touch with your inner emotions in the first place, And how to further make them into reality for yourself.

But that's even more hypocritical, because you're trying to enforce it by killing people!

The simplest way to put it is that "You should not harm others, except to stop them from harming others". The rule is very basic, and virtually all humans will agree upon it in principle. (not action or practice, mind you).

There ARE those who take the central axiom to forbid defense of self or others. But, personally, I find the stance that "I won't hurt you myself, but, even if it is the only way to stop them, I won't hurt the bad guy who is trying to kill you" very difficult to defend.
