RAM prices have hit rock bottom this year. At the beginning of 2007, 2GB 667MHz SODIMM DDR2 module costed around $400. Now you can get one for $35:

And if you are in for a desktop upgrade, also $35 for 2GB 667MHz DDR2:

Of course I am highly considering that Patriot for my notebook, as it is an incredible deal. 50% discount!

Thanks for the heads up. Prices have really come down since I've last looked.
Going with 2GB (2x1GB) Crucial for my HP dv9000 C2D T5500.

Why not go for the cheaper 2GB module? You get same RAM for less cost and keep the ability to upgrade.

Depends on the laptop, a lot of them can't take a module larger than 1 GB, even relatively new laptops can still have this limitation.

That's pretty much the reason. I am not 100% certain that it will swallow a 2GB in one slot. Also 2GB is the limit I will put into a 32-bit OS machine. I don't really ever plan on updating to a 64-bit OS on this. If I ever do, I will no doubt have a new laptop by then.
