\"Backspace\" key not responding in multiplayer?

So when I got my new computer, I decided to go back into playing D3. I use Vortex for the majority of my multilayer games. I choose a room, and join the match. No matter how many times I press the backspace key, I can't enter into the chat command. I just don't get it, all of the other commands work. Is there any other key command to chat?

My system:
AMD 64 X2 5600+ Dual Core
3GB DDR2 SDRAM
nForce 430 Geforce 6150SE
Standard Keyboard/Mouse PS/2

Yep, F8 for chat, Ctrl-F8 for team chat.
(P.S. Your menu in multiplayer is F6.)
